Unless you are very techincal with computers, I would wait awhile before upgrading.

I used to be a fan of Norton's Anti-virus, I no longer am. Their software is large and resource intensive... and quirky. -Especially their complete "network security" solution. For my buck, I would check out the http://grisoft.com site and download there Freeware Anti virus edition... and get my buck back! It's free and it works great!

If your hard drive is always running, I would bet that you have too many things "starting up" and you are into your virtual memory. Look at the lower right corner of your desktop and see how many icons you have in the system tray. If they are starting to make it to the middle point of your screen you have way to many. Usually you can right click on them and there will be an option to discontinue them. And you can always defrag... Open up your "computer" icon. Right Click on the C: drive and choose "properties". Then click on the tool tab and push the "deframent now" button.

That being said you may also have spy-ware all over your computer, which tends to also be a resource hog. If you download spybot from here http://www.safer-networking... and run it and "fix" the problems it finds... that may also solve your problems.

Spybot also has a pretty good "startup" checker in the advanced options so you can see what software is starting as you boot and can choose what to allow and what not to allow.

There are many other ways to do these things as well such as using the msconfig utility and, of course, you could always upgrade your memory.

As far as the Vincent Lopez method series, you can try to contact Christopher Popa at http://www.bigbandlibrary.com. I know he has it in his collection and may be able to further advise you.

I am working on my next large article "Windows XP Tips you wish you knew..." which will include ways to deal with some of the very things you mentioned above.

Good luck and spread the word about the site, again, I appreciate you taking the time to write.

                             Joe

Dr. J. This has to be installed on the server side. It appears that you installed the MIME update correctly but the HOTFIX to the server hasn't been installed yet. If this is the case, then you will be able to now see the WSYIWYG editor and the RED "X" will be gone AND you will be able to enter a message, but it will crash everytime you press send...

         J. It's not really because I don't like it but rather, because of the frustrations that can come with the "territory".

I often tell people that you until you try to teach an intensive "technology" class you really never understand how much there is to know, how much people really don't know, and how unreliable it can be at times!

Many times an "old-fashioned" solution is the easiest.
