FACT: The current Overtime rules actually favors the team that goes on Defense first. In 2013, only 20% of offensive drives that started with a kickoff, ended up with touchdown. Only 11.8% end in FGs. The vast majority of drives (68.2%!!!) end with no offensive score at all: Punt (47%), turnover, safety, etc.) source: pro-football-reference.com drive finder.

FACT: A lot of Denver writers like to make excuses when the Broncos lose. How about making a stop on 3rd down? How about making just ONE play on a 13-play, 80-yard drive? How about admitting that Seattle's offense was better than Denver's defense? It wasn't "dumb luck" - there were 13 Denver players that were on the field that could have changed Denver's "luck".

The team says that they're not focused on what happened last year, but this writer is apparently still focused on it. Was this article really just written in the last couple of weeks and not 5 months ago? He says that the Seahawks can't shut up, though he can't pull a quote from any time in the last 5 months? The Seahawks *did* beat the crud out of the Broncos, but that was a long time ago, and they've moved on and are getting ready for this year. If the Broncos (or Broncos fans or writers) can't get themselves ready for a game without bulletin-board material, then they've already lost.

I've always been critical of companies who choose to split their stocks, as I believed it was purely cosmetic / an administrative or accounting maneuver that had zero actual benefit. Of course Warren Buffett still believes that - Berkshire Hathaway (BRK-A) has a $191,000 share price. No kids out of high school are buying one of those shares! ;)

I went to Miami (OH) for my undergraduate degree, so have become somewhat of a Steeler fan since Ben Roethlisberger is also a Miami grad. It was a tough transition to being a Steeler fan though, since I grew up a die-hard Browns fan (my parents still live outside of Cleveland). When the Browns left for Baltimore, I was in Pittsburgh for grad school, and rooted HARD for everyone to beat Art Modell and the Baltimore Ravens every year; so I started pulling for the Steelers. (that Merle Cope, or whatever his name is, the Steeler radio play-by-play guy, has got to have the worst voice on the radio .... fingernails on the chalkboarrd kind of voice).

I agree. The refs made some horrible calls which might have cost the Seahawks the Super Bowl against Pittsburgh a couple of years ago. The call against Hasslebeck for 'blocking below the waist' when he was tackling the ball carrier, was particularly horrible, if I remember correctly.

Any time the Cowboys lose is a great day. That the Giants, Cowboys, Jets and Redskins all lost today... whoa, I'm in heaven! The media has a sick love-fest with the Eli & the Giants, Romo and his 'boyz, and anything and everything Favre. Good to see them all go down together today! :)

Nice work. Very nice layout. You're in for a lot of work to keep those 'should have blogged' posts updated.

I particularly like the new layout for your original blog post content. I think people will be more inclined to make a comment in the older posts as the posts age/scroll down. In the older layout, pretty much all active discussion was held in the most recent post. We'll see....

I've been listening to right-wing talk radio in the morning on my drive to work the last couple of days, just for fun. Funny that they all think Palin actually has a chance in 2012, that the media caused McCain to lose, and her to look bad. That is some serious brainwashing that needs to be undone.

Don't they realize why she didn't have a single press conference, or a single appearance on the Sunday morning shows? Or had to be chaperoned in her only (non-Fox) interview after Katie Couric? She is a zero. She has no knowledge of the world outside of Alaska. How embarrassing for McCain to have chosen her, and those right-wing nut jobs to say that they only voted for McCain because she was on the ticket.

Talking about 2012, what are Romney and Huckabee going to be doing for the next three years to stay relevant? They don't hold any public office. Huckabee has a new Fox News show on Sundays at 8pm. Will they be in the public eye enough to be relevant in 2012?

Great stuff Jed. Thanks for your contribution to the election. I know that I was much more personallly involved because of your work. I know there's no way of knowing exactly how much influence you had on how people voted, but it's cool to think that you might have had a direct impact on Indiana (and North Carolina?) and other battleground and red states flipping this year.

If you have time to crunch the numbers, it would be interesting to see how the traffic to the JedReport has increased over the course of the last 6-7 months... from before the Hillary in Tusla videos, through yesterday.

The last four polls have all shown two point leads for Gregoire. But better news for Gregoire is that she leads by eight among those who have already voted, SurveyUSA found, and that those promising to vote by Tuesday were split evenly between the candidates.
