Any of the La Jolla merchants could put their retail Items on display for helping the fundraising. They could invite local restaurant to serve the food instead.
these functions organizers, should approach each and every merchant in La Jolla, (either with a flyer or a notice of participation in advance as a courtesy of being in their neighborhood) to provide La Jolla merchants a equal opportunity of marketing and as well to help participating in such events.
who should La Jolla Merchants turn to for complain about such matter any way?

Re: LaJollaLight.com | Kitchen Shrink: Recession-proof tips for dining out

catherine, i am glad to see such a smart suggestion and wanted to thank you dearly for your wonderful suggestion. i have seen many folks in media, think they try to help the recession by discouraging everyone to dine out to save money. but they obviously don't see the bigger picture, when discouraging people not to eat out they will take business from the local restauranteur, and his/her employees and causing closing out then the land lord of the facility will get hit by the empty place with a mortgage to pay and a following up on foreclosure and so forth. they just see the saving of $20-30 not a bigger picture. but graciously, you have came out and suggested a smart eating out by a perfect ways to save money. you didn't even forget the Valet guys and their importance. Bravo and thank you for your support of the community. Please speak up in more media
cheers

Re: LaJollaLight.com | Retailers hopeful, but still cautious, about shoppers

I believe all retailers in La jolla and Bird Rock should extend their hours not only for holiday season, but also for longer seasonal base. It would attract more residents to spend their $$ inside the community than going to big shopping malls. It also causes more families to shop and spend more time together after work. To make the final point, by increasing their hours they help a happier and (not depressed) community and help the $$ to stay within ourselves.
