I don't like the Allo & WhatsApp model where my messages are trapped on a particular device. This is one reason I like Hangouts so much--and Facebook Messenger does this nicely, too, although it feels more clownish and kid-oriented, and has a mediocre web client compared to Hangouts.

Re: Google+ Photos Chrome App Will Stop Working In July

I miss G+ photos already. Nowhere do these terms state that Google is licensing your photos for use in advertisements. It is quite clear that this is not the case, and to state otherwise is ignorant and deceitful. Moreover, the ToS clearly state that "what belongs to you stays yours", and "[t]he rights you grant in this license are for the limited purpose of operating, promoting, and improving our Services, and to develop new ones." That's it. And herein, "promoting" is not the same as commercial advertising, and refers to using your images and data for display to you and friends to entice you to use the system.

Perhaps most importantly, if you're still worried, nobody actually cares about owning or using your photographs, which are a minuscule drop in a massive ocean of digital media.

Re: Announcing Todoist’s New Location Notifications with Free 30-Day Trial

I remember being annoyed by this feature, since every time I arrived at home, a cowbell rang and reminded me to clean my desk. ;-)

Anyway, I'm very excited for this feature. It's one I've really wanted.

Re: Open Sesame: Sync, save and search for all your favorite recipes with this iOS app

Pepperplate does all these things, and did them all over a year ago, with super cross-platform support, syncing, and browser import. It has a web app for desktop use, which makes it more useful than Paprika, for Windows users. Plus, it's free. It works well, although it doesn't appear to have been updated in quite a while. If you balk at Sesame's price, try out Pepperplate.

I'm just a user, more or less satisfied, but wondering why Pepperplate seems to have stalled.

Re: Your Favorite Shows On Netflix? Some of these are essentially autogenerated ebooks of search results. It is strange that the print editions of these are considered less useless than their electronic counterparts. All things considered, this isn't a bad policy. Amazon has done a reasonable job of keeping their ebook arteries unclogged, and ebook repositories with fewer restrictions seem to creep towards becoming bloating holds for content farmers. I'd rather a few good books get excluded than open the floodgates for garbage.

Re: $248.49 On Books in 1 Hour: 5 Lessons

Of course, to get the $0.66 per book value you'll need to actually *read* all 380 books. But, for me at least, much of the value is in portability, convenience, and electronically sync'd annotations. That's worth the initial cost of entry.

Re: Any.DO Now Available For Android – Collaborate With Friends/Family To Get Tasks Done

Let's be clear: Syncing with all those services is incredibly unlikely to happen. In fact, this looks suspiciously like Taskos's market listing, which has listed Producteev syncing as an upcoming feature for over a year.
