I own a small indie label, over the last 12 months, over half of our revenue has come from payment for streaming. For some of our artists, it has been the bulk of their royalties, the maority of which has come from Rhapsody and Napster.

It's interesting that consumers are now looking into streaming as an alternative to purchasing.

I think we need to stop calling the death of the industry just because actual comparative revenue is down, it doesn't mean that the industry is dying, it means it is changing shape, and consumers are now getting what they want for the price they want, instead of having to pay for a whole album just to get the 3 songs they like from it.

The only parts of the industry that are dying are the ones that are clinging onto old revenue models and failing to accept that while the alternative models might not provide the same amount of revenue per song/album, they are still valid, and there are ways to monetize these models effectively.
