A community needs to work together for the good of all its citizens. Yes! It is important that the Mayor gives the school district support. As Mayor I will promote peer support groups within the school district for youth to keep them on track and to help avoid the drugs, teen pregancies, gangs, family problems and all issues associated with the wrong kind of peer pressure.

Are you and Pete feeling a little uneasy about his chances of holding his position, Laidback? This is a new low even for you. It’s disappointing to see this campaign head in this direction. Pete should be embarrassed having one of his people write such garbage.

The only alleged drug activity at my salon that I have ever heard of came from you. I am sure if there was an under cover investigation that I would not know about it and neither would you, unless you are part of it, in which case you just let the whole world know. There are fifteen people (all of them offended that you would accuse them of illegal drug activity) working at my salon and we all welcome everyone, including you, to come here and see if this looks like a drug den.

Once again Laidback, you’re correct. I'm looking at a picture of me riding high above my subjects in the good ol days para………….oh, wait a minute, that’s not me……its Pete riding high on a brand new city truck high above his subjects just like he rules Auburn. I suppose being mayor, he doesn’t need to follow the parade rules that state no vehicles newer than 1969. I hope Pete will have a new truck for me to use for campaigning for the general election (just kidding- that would be just as unethical as Pete using a city truck to campaign in the parade).
I feel parades are for spectators to enjoy not just participants. If my daughter and son in law had not brought seven of their horses and kids there would have only been four horses in the entire parade. The Pedestal I was on, that you referred to, is a 1941 Dodge flat bed truck beautifully decorated by a dear friend and neighbor along with her family. Had I known this was a contest to see who could bring the largest group of people, I would have brought a lot more supporters.

Auburn-Reader, you are correct when you state that a lot of tax revenue has dried up but I hope you don’t think it’s my fault entirely. I have always believed that when you have less money to spend you had better spend less money. Not buying furniture that you don’t need will not solve all the city’s problems but it is one thing that would help and probably save a few jobs. The published city budget is not broken down to the point that anyone could reasonably find areas where savings could be had. As for wanting business coming into downtown, you have once again misunderstood (lied about) what I said. I want redevelopment in downtown, but without forcing existing businesses out and without special favors and with everyone involved treated fair and equal.

I have never hidden the fact that I sued the city. You are incorrect (make that lying) when you state I have sued the city on multiple occasions. By the way, my issues were not really with the city, they were with Pete Lewis but I couldn’t sue him as an individual. Because of Pete’s bullying and lies we lost hundreds of thousands of dollars. When I become Mayor, the bullying will stop.

Pete has set up everyone in Auburn to be a victim of being bullied, by signing
The Ordinance 6049, that enables the city to blight condemn and seize your property and give you less than the dirt is worth. Also putting hundreds of realtors and property owners of commercial lease space at risk, because the city has not disclosed to them the fact that the properties in Auburn are blighted. Yes I know you put a little blurb in a public notice that no one paid attention to because it sounds sweet “Community renewal law”. And who knows what blighting means? Daniel, the city has blighted a very large area of downtown allowing the ordinance #6049 making that area available for a COMMUNITY RENEWAL PLAN AREA. RCW 35.81.080 (eminent domain) states that any city can condemn property within the community renewal plan area. RCW 8.25.290 (2) (condemnation final actions) states the city must give the property owner 15 days notice. I believe you were reading RCW 35.80A.010 (condemnation of blighted property) which is not the correct RCW

You need to go away and quit backing a deceitful mayor, or is this Pete? Fortunately for the citizens I will not go away. I will ask every citizen that supports me to rally behind Virginia. Look at www.shelleyformayor.com. Look at the correct RCW laws and how vulnerable the property owners are in Auburn. The real truth. The mayor only won by 47% of a meager ten thousand votes cast out of 29,000 registered voters. If the citizens of Auburn rally together they can easily have a new mayor. Afraid the truth will set Auburn free of Pete? The NW Regional fire district chose not to back an eight year mayor Lewis for a reason. The police department wouldn't get in the middle and vote either way. All signs of a troubled city. The city purchasing the old Marvel Food and Deli building is throwing up a red flag to citizens that talk to me and it should. Now I am hearing the city is trying to take over a historical house on "A"St. already. The owners of any historical buildings can apply for historical status and keep the city from acquiring the property. The city is not wasting any time now that the cat is out of the bag. My congratulations to Virginia Haugen. I hope all my supporters will now support Virginia. To say less than half of a meager 10,000 votes out of a possible 29,000 registered voters is something for Pete to be proud of and make an arrogant statement he now knows he has a job come January 2009, is Pete Lewis covering up for the lack of interest the citizens of Auburn have shown. This primary should awaken Pete that more than half the voters that bothered to vote in Auburn are not happy with Pete. It will take very little votes to vote in a new mayor. We had 19,000 votes that were not cast. If Auburn wants change now is the time to rally together and ask your neighbors to vote for Virginia. I agree! This is very scary! The people of Auburn need to READ the RCW's on The Community Renewal Laws and not just listen to what they are told by me or you. READ FOR YOURSELVES! Your property does not have to be vacant for a year. In the Community Renewal Law the reasons are so vast that for just about the simplest reason you can be given 15 days notice to get off your property and your property can be seized by eminent domain by the government. Pete Lewis signed ordinance 6049 not me. After my experience with Pete Lewis I have found out you don't want to trust anyone else, even if they are in a position of trust. Look up the laws yourself and read it yourself and know where you stand.

The lies out there that Virginia wants to revert back to tavern row and 45 years ago are bunk. Virginia is as worried as I am that the development is being done by questionable deals like the Massey's building and unfair big development not co-existing with small business. Our small businesses are being sacrificed and bullied out of town. The idea that only big business is what Auburn needs like Barnes and Nobles, Harley Davidson and only big business, doesn't agree with what is coming out of the White House. The White House is saying small businesses are what makes up 80% of the economy and it is going to take the success of small businesses to save this economy. NO SMALL BUSINESS SHOULD SUFFER FOR BIG DEVELOPMENT. Auburn is not ready for Barnes and Nobles. We have a wonderful book store "Comstocks" that is like, out of the Never Ending Story. It is a charming wonderful place to walk into. Why do we need Barnes and Nobles to put them out of business. We can go to Federal Way to Barnes and Nobles. Next we'll need Macy's and Nordstrom's here when we have a wonderful store like Rottle's that carry' s the best of clothes.

My lawsuit against the mayor has to do with the mayor lying to me about policies and illegally holding
up permits and costing me millions of dollars, while being mayor or our city. Seeing he has set an ordinance in place that can effect all Auburn citizens, their property and their homes, by setting us up for eminent domain, with very little reason why, knowing he was willing to bully me, and flat out lie to my husband and I. Defraud us! Seeing how he has been willing to sacrifice small business and been involved with businesses like Cavanaugh's that went south, that would never had gone south if the mayor had not gone to them, and more has me fighting for the citizens rights. Nothing like someone who know's what he is capable of to know the citizens need protecting. That is how M.A.D.D and Three Strikes and you are Out happened. Call me what ever you want.

Possible topics for the blog: Is grant money free? Is crime down in Auburn, or just not posted? Is Auburn ready for Barnes and Nobles and Macy's?
Why is the house on 23rd S.E. not being investigated for animal hording and vacancy? A neighbor to this house has told me it is full of possums cats and rats and is told no one in the city of Auburn can do anything about it.
Why does a woman have to take three buses to work because the directly routed bus was canceled ? Would a positive peer support group in the school system help you? Why is Andy's loosing a core of their business from truck drivers? Why didn't the developer and the city of Auburn work with the Fassbind's to move their driveway instead of allowing a hazardous illegal intersection? Why vote for Virginia? What is imminent domain? What is blight? What happened to the non profit community volunteers that did the foot work on the farmers market? Blog me!

auburn_reader I don’t think I’m telling you anything you don’t already know, but just in case I will try again. The ordinance #6049 signed by Pete Lewis states on page (2) Policy 2-2 “The City shall have the ability to acquire properties to aggregate into larger projects.”
Page (3) of 6049 states “blighted areas designated as appropriate for “Community Renewal Projects” as set forth in Chapter 35.81 RCW.” Note the fourth ‘Whereas’ on page (3): “The Community Renewal Plan contains a feasible plan for making available adequate housing for the residents who may be displaced.”
The city ordinance #6049 clearly references RCW 35.81. It does NOT reference the Auburn City Code 8.12.020 (Nuisances Affecting Public Health and Safety) as I’m sure you already know. These documents are all available on www.shelleyformayor.com or you can get all but 6049 off the internet.

It doesn't look like it is a tough choice for the city to purchase real estate. The Marvel Food building is another developer gone south, so this time the tax payers are going to pay.

Now who is being ridiculous! Have you never gone out of Auburn to purchase anything? I always purchase inside Auburn if it is available here. I really miss the Cavanaugh hardware store. I have to leave town to purchase items Cavanaugh's always had available. How can you claim the RCW35.81.015, RCW35.81.080 and RCW8.25.290 are not posted in the 6049 ordinance? I t is right on the paperwork. Who are you kidding? As for progress. I have always stated I believe in fair progress co-existing with small businesses already here and without eminent domain. Virginia and I and Frank have never made those statements. That statement was made by someone that chose to put words in our mouths for his own benefit. READ MY LIPS IT NEVER HAPPENED. Looking at the Massey's building developed into the police station gives question to how fair development is going. Massey's sell to J. Thorp for $465,000.00 three weeks later J. Thorp sells the building to Oliphant for $875,300.00 a $410,000.00 profit. Then remodels the building for thirteen months and sells it to the tax payers for $10,350,000.00 which is appraised at $5,677,300.00.

I never said I wanted to go back 45 years or back to tavern row. I definitely said I would stop all development that had not be given the go ahead, until I found out what citizens of Auburn really want here and to make sure citizens are not being bullied out of their property as the mayor attempted to do to me. This can all be cleared up by Robert Whale's recorder. He does not write out his notes. He records them. His recorder will back me up. I have been told by too many people there are sweetheart deals going on and I would like to investigate those claims before going forward with any development. If you go to www.shelleyformayor.com you will see this is consistent with what I am saying now and said at the Rotary lunch. I believe in fair development. The Massey's building does not look like fair development and the ordinance 6049 does not prove to be fair development.
