I don't know if you live in Auburn or not, but I do. I have all my life and intend to stay. Auburn is a great place to live and unless you live here or have lived here, then stop bashing our city. If you do live here and dislike it so much, then move. We don't need people like you here.

I am sorry for the children and families that were harmed because of this man and glad he is going to jail with other 72 people.

Since the article provides a link to the reporter's email address, I emailed him a polite response to rememdy the error. I'm sure it will fixed soon. I am disappointed the opponent nor anyone from her campaign chose to make themselves available on this important night.

I am proud to say that I voted for Pete Lewis and wish him a successful and productive term in leading our city through these difficult times with a steady hand and balanced approach. Thank you Mayor Lewis for all you do for Auburn. You are appreciated.

A large part of reporting on candidates is about how they present themselves, as well as their ability to raise funds and when someone does something worth noting, it should be noted. Her behavior at the debate, council meetings and in general is not who I want representing me and my city. She is not qualified and simply watching her ask questions at council meetings on things she should know if she had reviewed her materials tells me she either A) Does not understand them or; B) Did not take the time to read them thoroughly. In either case, if she will not even do that small task, she does not deserve my vote. She was elected by the people to set policy for this city and thus far votes "no" in arbitrary ways or changes her mind in the middle of discussions if another councilmember gives an explanation. Her "down home" thing is admirable, but not a quality that qualifies her to mayor. She said herself she is barely qualified for the position she has now.

Her image has nothing to do with the media portraying her in a negative light, the media reports on what she says and does, and in all cases, the reporting is accurate.

You're right the students and debate coach from Auburn Mountainview did a great job. The rest of your comments though show that you perhaps have not been downtown lately. It is unclear how you can call major construction on three major developments a failure. A highly successful farmers market at the transit center and when longtime business owners like Rottle's, Comstocks and Cavanaughs support Mayor Lewis.

I'm sorry, but electing a mayor that needs to surround themselves with smarter people to be effective is dangerous - that usually means they will be a puppet at the whim of those smarter than they are. Our current mayor is knowledgable - and if you want to blame someone for the slow down in development efforts, blame the guy that screwed over the Cavanaughs, blame the economy, blame wall street, blame the war, blame Tim Eyman's riduculous initiatives and blame yourself if you voted for them.

Mayor Lewis and the city council have done the best they can with the cards they have been dealt and I will be voting for Pete Lewis to continue his leadership during these difficult times. This is not the time for a wild card, this is the time for sure hand.

Sue the city if we have flooding on the Green River? No wonder our economy is where it is. Your rambling incoherent post here does not even warrant any response - except when what you say can put people in harm's way. The city, state and federal authorities have done a great job of keeping citizens informed about the possible flooding and have done so all year long. You're right about one thing, don't depend on the city. Depend on yourself. Get flood insurance and be prepared to keep your self safe in the event of disaster. Wasting money on legal fees rather than purchasing flood insurance (floodsmart.gov) and building an emergency back pack is flat dangerous.

Oh, the flood insurance - provided by the federal government and everyone is eligible and cannot be turned down. So here is an example of good government. Still voting for Pete Lewis by the way.

Not like I needed any further evidence, but this confirmation directly from the candidate seals my vote for Pete Lewis.

Pete Lewis has been here for awhile. Looks like he started using his candidate blog on this website on August 8 (http://blogs.auburn-reporte... and has been answering the so-called concerns there as well as his website which has been up since before the primary (www.petelewis.org) He has made his platform very clear and has demonstrated that he has a clear vision for the betterment of Auburn and a deep understanding of the issues facing our city and the qualifications to solve the problems before us. It is also obvious he has not resorted to the negative tactics of others.

Also, Viriginia was quoted in this paper: “Frank and Shelley and I made a pact in the beginning that it didn’t matter who won the right to face off against Pete in the general, we would throw our support to that person,” Haugen said. (http://www.pnwlocalnews.com... - I guess I should point out that it does not seem Frank wants anything to do with these two.

No one doubts there is good in her just as there is good in Pete Lewis. She has thrown out some very hateful language about him and the mudslinging needs to be defended. Pete Lewis is not a liar, bully or unethical as she claims. He is a father, husband, grandfather, friend and dedicated community member as well as a good businessman and mayor.

This ugliness is very disheartening. I am glad you are a happy former employee of Shelley's and there are many happy former and current employees that have worked him and I am sure both Shelley and Pete Lewis have unhappy ones too - as any boss would.

RCWs are Washington State laws, the Auburn City Code is actually much more conservative than the State's and actually only addresses public health or safety concerns (ACC 8.12.020). Please read it: http://www.codepublishing.c... I guess the city could fall back on Washington State law if they wanted to, but clearly they don't.

The mayor is supposed to oversee everything inside the city - along with his department directors and councilmembers - that is why we have a full time mayor and that is his job. I personally know several councilmembers and many city employees and none of them speak any ill will towards Mayor Lewis or his leadership. You say you speak to former employees, consider that with a grain of salt. I'm sure if I spoke to former employees of yours I would get similar results. Stop with the namecalling and vendettas.

That kind of change is wreckless. The current administration has done a great job in the face of many economic challenges (Voter approved Eymann initiatives, SST and now a recession) - does no one see that we are the only city in this region with active and viable construction in its downtown? These things do take time and do not happen over night, but take a look. It is happening and will only get better.

Worse? Lakeland Hills development, transit center, new construction downtown, the Justice Center, crime rates down, 21st century Valley Regional Fire Authority, Save Our Streets program, summer lunch program for kids, millions of dollars in grant funding for a myriad of projects that eased the burden on taxpayers, largest community events in the region, new business, successful regional partnerships, creation of human service groups to help the underserved, nationally accredited police force, partnership with American Legion, State of Washington and Veterans Affairs for a new building in Veterans Memorial Park to serve veterans in south county, passage of veterans levy...yeah, you're right. I wish we did not have those things, they have clearly made our community worse (yes, that was sarcasm.)

And to quote TheTruthIsOutThere from below, "Just 10 years ago the downtown bars were crawling with undesirables. Needles and condoms in the parking lot, drug dealing, drunk driving, fights, etc." Some want us to return to that. No thank you.

False terror - please get the facts and make an informed decision. Shelley has a personal vendetta against Mayor Lewis. To quote her from a reply to one of my recent comments on her blog when asked about her lawsuit against the city, "I have never hidden the fact that I sued the city. You are incorrect (make that lying) when you state I have sued the city on multiple occasions. By the way, my issues were not really with the city, they were with Pete Lewis but I couldn’t sue him as an individual." My response, she willfully is wasting taxpayer money on a frivilous lawsuit.

Mayor Lewis has done a good job and needs to stay in office to finish the good work that has been started. I urge all voters to get the facts and stop participating in this mudslinging and viciousness. No one benefits from this.

That is right, the mayor and council make those decisions in conjunction with the planning department and long range planning. That is what elected officials are supposed to do.

Take your own advice and pay attention to the city's comprehensive plan and downtown redevelopment plan. Taxpayers and anyone else would want Auburn's downtown to be redeveloped to bring income into the city. That is city economics 101.
