I too get stuck in the every day makeup rut so I loved reading this and will definitely consult the next time I need to fancy myself up. Great post!

Re: Find of the Week - by Emily

I also wore these in high school circa 1994 and picked them up at Hot Topic! I'm 36 and have just recently started experimenting with this. Why didn't I start doing this earlier when my skin was even better?!? I started slathering on heavy foundation when I was 16 and really should have let that skin breathe. Great message and you're giving me confidence to do it every day. Plus, I might even get out of the house faster!

Re: Paris. - by Emily

Oh goodness I am feeling envious! It's been two years since we've been there, but on our last trip my husband and I went for lunch at Septime (only reservation we could snag there) and it ended up being our favorite meal there. I know everyone has a favorite restaurant, but that was ours. Oh, falafals! We adored Maoz falafels for late night or a quick lunch. And I'm sure Berthillon ice cream has been recommended. If there is a line, try the sit down "tea room" next door. Often, there isn't a wait for a two person table, you can bypass the line and rest you feet.

Enjoy your time! Make sure you take lots of breaks to sit and soak it up (this is what I'm always guilty of forgetting) and channel missing Sloan into buying her lots of cute Parisian outfits.

Re: My Relationship with Fitness - by Emily

This is why I love reading your blog! I identify so much with this. I have an almost 2 year old and could have written something so similar myself. I wish I made exercise a priority, and I talk myself into going gung-ho about it, but then it just never happens. I'm out the door by 7:30 every morning and already struggle with the lack of baby cuddles I can squeeze in before it's time to go. And in the evening, exercise is far down on the priority list. We recently got one of those Gazelle's (of Tony Little fame!) and I have been hopping on there for a bit a couple of nights a week and it feels nice just to get the blood flowing while zoning out to some TV. But, I constantly struggle between feeling guilty for not taking physical care of myself like I'd like and giving myself grace for this time in my life.

Seriously, the struggle, whether it's exercise or some other area that has to give, is real and I'm convinced there is not easy answer unless you're a robot or delusional.

Re: The Funny Way I Chose Sloan's Nightly Lullaby - by Emily

I love this! My daughter is a bit older than Sloan and before she was born I had decided on my favorite Sam Cooke song for her lullaby. But, once she was here it just didn't feel right. During my maternity leave I had been watching a lot (A LOT) of Gilmore Girls and their theme song, Carole King's Where You Lead, was constantly in my head and that naturally became her lullaby. I love it because it instantly takes me back to those early days when everything was foreign and sweet. Whenever she hears it she snuggles and my heart melts.

Re: Five Things - by Emily

Loved reading a bit about what your day looks like. I highly agree with your Mom staple outfit and would love some slouchy tee suggestions. The perfect slouchy tee is the holy grail I've yet to find!

Re: The 15 Things Every New Parent Needs

This is a great list for new parents. I have an 11 month old and some of these were really lifesavers. If you're pumping a lot, I really recommend the Freemie cups (not the pump, just the cups + medela adapter). I'm an exclusive pumper and these made all the difference. You don't have to disrobe and I felt I could actually get work done while pumping, while the traditional setup still felt awkward. Pumping is terrible regardless, but they made it slightly better!

Re: Early Motherhood Challenge

Oh goodness, I relate to this! Though I thought I never judged those who formula fed, when we started having major feeding difficulties (tongue/lip tie, low weight, now exclusively pumping) I was absolutely devastated at the thought of giving it to my now 10 month daughter. We have so much love and anxiety wrapped around these little bundles and when you mix that with the hormones, all of that is escalated. It's such hard work and so much responsibility! Sounds like you're in a good place and supported so keep on doing what works best!

Re: The Random Thing I'm Always Googling

You are not alone! I google the height of almost every actor when I watch a movie/television program. My only guess as to why I have this obsession is because when I was in 4th grade I went on a tour of a local television station and was shocked at how short all the anchors were. We're talking 5'. I'm also just over 5'6" and always trying to gauge whether they are shorter or taller than me.

Re: GIVEAWAY and Our Baby Must Haves!

Would LOVE to win the Solly wrap!

Re: WET HAIR STYLES

Very helpful! I'm such a list maker that I absolutely loved packing my bag. So much of what you need depends on what kind of labor you end up having. I luckily ended up having a quick labor and stay, so many of the items I packed ended up not being used, but I think this is one time it's better to overpack. The most helpful advice I received was to pack two bags. One small bag for active labor and large bag for your stay. Leave the one for overnight in the car and just bring the essentials with you. So much is happening during active labor that you don't want to rifle through a big bag.

Essential items for me that aren't in your post was a hair dryer, our nice camera and phone chargers. Also, I was so scared they weren't going to let me eat so I brought some energy gels (liquid and clear in case we needed a c-section) and those were helpful. You will love the snacks you brought after you're done. I swear the Kit-Kat I ate after delivery was the best tasting thing in the world. We also brought champagne and it was one of my favorite moments! Enjoy this precious time!

Re: Pro Tips: Baby Products Design-Loving Parents Need - by Emily

I have a six-month old and researching baby products was both overwhelming and thrilling for me. You are probably already pretty deep in the trenches, but I really loved the real-mom blog posts on wisebaby.com. Some of my most useful products are the Dohm sound machine, rock n' play bassinet, a swing, and the Baby Merlin Sleepsuit. Also, probiotics! Our daughter had pretty classic colic symptoms at night until we started giving her probiotics. Now six-months later she is still fuss-free and seems to have a pretty solid immune system. Every baby and household is different so you'll figure out what works best for you.
p.s. I love these post. People evolve and it's great to see your blog reflect your current life.

Re: Emily Ley Simplified Planner Giveaway

My simple goal is to finish all the craft projects I currently have completed to 80%. Even though we were trying to get pregnant, the moment I found out it actually worked, I fell into a deep panic. No take backs! By the second trimester I was filled with joy but those feelings would occasionally pop up and still do. I just had my daughter 5 weeks ago and it's the best thing we ever did. It changes everything, but when you have a solid relationship and a safe home, you'll be surprised how seamlessly you adapt and how your capacity to love grows. You guys are going to rock it.

Re: Girl's Gone Child: Portrait of a Family as a Young(ish) Family & Giveaway!

To me, love means feeling like the best version of myself.

Re: Girl's Gone Child: Ice Cream Truckplayhouse (and giveaway!)

We were never allowed to visit the ice cream truck (horrror!) but we did frequent Baskin Robbins and I always got a Daquiri Ice.

Re: A Baby Shower for YOU!

Fingers crossed!
