Joe, I got a ticket for a violation when I never even entered the toll booth. I didn't want to go into San Francisco so I took the last exit before the toll booth, Treasure Island, I believe, and turned around. They sent me a picture just of my car and said I violated. Complete BS! I never went through a toll booth. How do I fight this?

Michael, I have more questions for you and some points to make:

1) Why was this move made with absolutely no warning? This has never happened before to any of the stations around here as far as I know.

2) How did you do your research? I find it very hard to believe that people want just another station like THE BAND that plays what Kiss FM and 96.5 Classic Rock already play. And whoever analyzed that data was wrong. Just because more people listen to that kind of music than smooth jazz doesn't mean they want another station with that music!

3) If you think that jazz is only for older, more mature people, well, I'm 37 and I've been listening for ten years.

3) As someone pointed out, the music that the Band is playing is music that we already have on vinyl, cassette, CD, whatever. So what's new about this station?

4) Why are smooth jazz stations being eliminated around the country?

5) As someone else pointed out, those of us on Apple computers cannot listen to kksf.com on the Internet. Besides, if I wanted to listen to smooth jazz on the Internet, I have other options. I want to listen to smooth jazz on my local radio.

BULLS**T!

They gave absolutely no warning that they would do this. And, they didn't say they used Arbitron. It was some sort of People's something-or-another. Don't you DARE blame us for something they didn't even tell us about.

Second of all, do you realize that this decision came within a week after Clear Channel announced it was restructuring its debt?

They say you can listen to the old KKSF on your Blackberry. To listen to it on the Blackberry requires that you have an unlimited data plan, I don't know what kind of a deal they must have struck up with Blackberry manufacturers for a share of the profits. They know this is a popular station. They know Blackberry holders have money and may be willing to purchase an unlimited plan in order to keep listening to the station.

They are manipulating us. Don't be so naive.

So tell me:

Is the new direction of the station to broadcast KKSF Smooth Jazz on the Internet, then transition the station into XM Satellite so that if we want to listen, we have to pay? Are you essentially making us pay to listen to the radio?

Furthermore, are you using our comments as the testing ground to test the loyal fan base, to see if we really would care enough to do anything to bring our station back, even pay for it?

After reading the comments today, I am beginning to get it. There are several articles in Salon.com about Clear Channel, and its owners. I find it really funny that the three top executives of Clear Channel have the last name of Mays, probably the original owner and his sons.

Clear Channel has been sued for pay-to-play gimmicks. Someone said they have a stake in XM radio, therefore it seems to me that since they have a stake in XM radio, what they are trying to do is to take a very popular station and transition to the Internet, then transition to XM where people have to pay to listen to their stations. Good radio will no longer be free.

Greedy, crooked, greedy is all I can think to say.

balaton, based on the things you said, it seems pretty obvious that you are working for Clear Channel. Please do not insult our intelligence this way.

"we now have a station that plays music no other station does." Really? Do you LIVE in the Bay Area? If you did, you'd know you just told a bold-faced lie.

"Whoever made this decision did a good job, I think there are many people out there like me, who's going to enjoy the "new" kksf." Really? So the rest of us, over 2600 of us, are mistaken and you, only one person, is correct?

You guys made a GIGANTIC mistake. Who the hell made this decision?

I won't add more to what others have already said because I feel everything they've said. Within 36 hours, you have over 2300 comments. God knows how many more you'll have in the following weeks.

Do you get it that you made a big mistake or are you guys really this thick? Bring back Smooth Jazz. The Beatles and all those bands you are playing are LONG GONE! Their time is over!

God, I feel sick to my stomach and I wish I could come over there and give you a piece of my mind. This was a stupid decision and you should NEVER trust these market researchers again.
