In fact, you stay away from sugar for 30 days or so, and you will be able to taste so many things better - coffee, macadamia nuts, strawberry especially come to mind

Re: The Last Diet You Will Ever Be On

Hey Matthew,
Thanks for the comment. You are absolutely right - if grains and legumes are properly prepared, we negate the ill effects. Quinoa is pretty good too. This post is aimed mostly at Indians, and quinoa is an expensive and hard to get grain here.

Re: Rice > Wheat. It applies only to folks who are training regularly at a high intensity, and not to the general population.
"If not through wheat or soy...." - wheat is not a protein source. Wheat is a grain and a carbohydrate. Soy is a source of protein but a very poor source. Fermented soy is a good way to get some protein in, but in limited quantities. So, regardless of my article, your source of protein should be something else. Meat, eggs, whey protein (if you are vegetarian), dairy, hemp seeds (if you are vegetarian) are sources of protein.

Re: Rice > Wheat. I would stay away from mainstream media on this. It finally falls on you to make a decision. Try something out, see what works and what does not. And go from there.
How far are organic foods really organic? Not sure, but there are better sources and worse sources. Look around, and you will find them.
But look for the bigger problems (remove allergens like wheat or milk) before you look at other issues that are more out of your control (who is really organic). Hope this helps. If you have any more questions, do ask via email or here.

Re: Honey. Sweeteners have a bad effect on the body, and the only exception I would agree to is whey. Protein is important, especially if you are vegetarian, and whey's benefits will outweigh the disadvantages of artificial sweeteners. that said, there are a couple of options - Optimum Nutrition "Natural" which has sugar added and not sweeteners, and there are no sugar or sweetener added whey products as well.

How bad - worse than sugar. And yes, it induces sugar cravings.

Re: Honey. Your goals are inter-related, or rather, they should be. Getting fitter, and improving performance will automatically get you to lose fat. So, very reasonable goal.
Milestones - make sure you are not doing too much too fast. Make a bunch of steps for milestone 1. For example, if you eat junk everyday currently, you can say "I will eat junk only every other day". But even this has to be more meaningfully defined. Coz if you eat twice the amount of junk (of what you used to eat) every other day, we are stuck spinning wheels. With regards to working out, I will have some suggestions out there very soon. For now, start walking for 30 minutes a day.
