I don't actually as I'm not american... Also I'm not the kind of asshole that demands that kind of service. Talk to people and deal with them in the same way that you'd like to be dealt with and we'll all be extremely cool together - However, be a douche bag like the bartenders/servers in the article then there is a good chance I'll be an asshole right back - with zero tip.

are you all as thick as you sound? I agree to do my job for an agreed salary and I purposely do a job that means I don't have to deal with the public... or rely on tips.

For the record I didn't mean for my comment to sound derogatory and I apologise if it does - I'm just fed up dealing with asshole bartenders and this article was all about those particular people. assholes.

I've worked at same company 20 years. Loathe the place now, but it's a good salary and I have kids + mortgage - would LOVE to go freelance but don't have the 'bottle' just yet...

you know nothing about my life (zilch, nada) yet are quick to broadcast how jet-setty you are - like anyone gives a fuck! I'm a fair bit older than you (I can tell) and I've been around the block - this "i've been to krakow and milton keynes" shit just doesn't cut it for me... so what. We've all travelled (usually for fun, not for work)
For the record - no, i don't think Dundee, Aberdeen et al are the be all and end all - just good cities with good people that I enjoy visiting - whereas you're one of those Scots that seem to run down Scotland to all and sundry cos it makes you feel like the big man - bet you're the first to lionise the old country when you're pished on one of your oh so many foreign jaunts!!! (bet your accent gets thicker too!)

Dundee suffered from an influx of knob-ends a wee while back and I think you must be one of them (I'm guessing student). whilst the city has suffered in the past from a lack of investment the same cannot be said now - Dundee & Aberdeen are cities on the up (I don't recognise your use of the word ugly for instance). I'm glad you're in edinburgh now though.

apparently not everyone. Whilst aberdeen is pretty grey, Dundee is recognised as the city in Scotland that has most hours of sunshine... Just go visit the east cost :)
