So kinda "news" in the way that most of PP is just taking a random tweet that's vaguely photography related and turning it into a story...

Re: Today, iOS 18 Gives the iPhone Photo Library Its ‘Biggest Redesign Ever’

I think there's a difference both in speed and in requirement to be unlocked between launching the app from a widget (basically it's just a shortcut that opens the app in the phone) vs the built in lock screen buttons (insta-launches without need to be unlocked (puts it in some sort of lower security mode or something I think) and the app is somehow always kinda running (or feels like it)).

Re: Photographer Explains How He Kept His Cool and Shot Iconic Trump Image

It's also being sold on keychains and shirts already.

Re: Sepia Tone Bride Drama is a Valauble Lesson for Photographers

I can't surf at all these days without an adblocker. Describe your dream vacation and upload a selfie and we'll generate a photo of you and make you even more excited about buying a lottery ticket. Just the super modern version of those big signs with a cutout you put your head through and take a photo. If it worked properly of course, this seems like it's a bit off the rails.

Re: Photographer Asks Wife to Guess Cost of His Camera Gear in Viral Video

I assume it's a "ha ha girls don't know how much things cost".

I want to see the reverse and a girl who's into horses asking her husband how much he thinks things cost...

Re: Adobe Wants 1,000 Photos of Bananas to Help Train its AI Image Generator

Is this to train the hotdog or not AI?

Re: The Rise of ‘Vacation Photographers’

So let me get this straight... Obviously they choose the best looking lettuce, and the onions are going to be "pretty", and the cheese is heated on the edges after the fact so it droops properly. There are also tricks like pushing everything forward in between the buns so they pop out more (you can see in the photo the bun slants down in the back).

That said, there's a LOT of difference between what you see and what you get in this case, but as others have said, that's pretty much the case in every fast food promo photo vs reality ever...

Re: How Male Celebrities Would Look Like if They Were Photoshopped like Women

I would have paid all the money if the before/after of Paul Rudd was exactly the same...

Re: Epson’s Two New High-Res Photo Scanners Are Pretty Affordable

Epson has the V600 (or V700, I forget which) which has negative, slide, and large format negative scanning and works very well. Maybe the idea is they are keeping the device tab "pure" to show you the same thing that the photos app will see.

The import into LRC I guess make sense as it probably knows the image your editing and is using the already imported one because it knows it by a unique identifier.

It's an interesting feature for sure, a nice compromise between importing everything into LRm and having all your random snapshots in the 'imported by lightroom mobile' collection in LR or having to dig for the photo, import it, etc.

Will be interesting to see how this works out for people in practice though.

Re: New App ‘Skylight Forecast’ Predicts Great Sunsets and Golden Hour Light

Actually it's not just telling you that, it's doing a bunch of magic to be able to tell you if the sunset will be good, bad, or ugly, not just whe nit is.

Re: Midjourney’s ‘Insane’ Response to User’s Joke About Access to V6

Typo in the start:

" it was brought to m attention from" Should be 'my'.

Re: Photographers Scans 35m Film with Smartphone

So take a photo with the negative *not* as big as it can be in the frame and make it angled so you have to skew it so it will be straight?

Gotcha.

Re: How to Avoid Being Scammed as a Photographer

I had one of these that I messed with for over a month and managed to keep them engaged.
