Too many times board members expect the founder to be superhuman and their dissatisfaction is often clothed is ridiculous terms like "founder X doesn't scale." Scaling in that way is something you do as pixels in a CAD program not human beings— and certainly not ones with the rare form of crazy that makes things people love.

Re: http://an.ton.io/blog/articles/2012/07/28/disposable-vending-machines-thoughts-on-my-nexus-7

iPad falls on your face because it is too heavy.

AR

Re: http://an.ton.io/blog/articles/2012/02/14/why-the-cylons-will-first-arrive-through-the-twitter-stream

Steve,

Your comment has me thinking of doing a "bot economy" post where we take all of the things that can be botted (CPC ads, app downloads, social network activity) and subtract out the amount of automated activity from the ultimate value of the asset. With your 35% number this would imply that most of the 10X Internet properties are worth only about 60% as much as people who value them on traffic think they are. Hmm...

Re: http://an.ton.io/blog/articles/2012/01/27/on-selling-companies-and-the-startup-ecosystem-virtuous-cycle

Amen brother!

Re: http://weblog.bocoup.com/startup-data-trends

I love the transparency of implementation here as well. BTW, on the touch also sucking, I wonder if the reason why that is isn't because what AZ really wants is a free device and therefore they are putting most of their cycles against the $79 one which on the face of it looks like a vast ID improvement over the last version. At current course and speed, they might get to $0 on that one next year which might be a truly disruptive thing for them to do in the content business.

Re: Bye bye Steve

I agree. I guess this is what happens when bureaucracies are allowed to run amok. He was optimistic about the private sector but had no better answer than that.

Re: How Much Money To Raise

Am I wrong in thinking that for most of the history of the venture business, the A round has been 40-50% dilutive with 2 firms each ending up with 20-25% of the company?

Re: Declaring and getting through Twitter bankruptcy

You know Savage, back in 07 when I last saw Ev Williams he madea provocative statement about how great products come from taking existing ones that are popular and adding a constraint (the 140 chars being his on blogging).
