Again, I refrain from making such personal attacks on anyone, while expressing discontent at the overall system in place.

The students are protected from this type of nonsense (which is a good thing), and you are made to see a different picture. I am glad that you had a good experience. The reality is that some teachers have not been treated well and fairly, and those teachers deserve respect too. They are most of the time resident tax payers and parents within the town too.

Whether the administration has done a good job in other areas I do not refute, but on these cases they have acted unfairly.

I do respect your opinion though, and thanks for your insight. You're a smart person, good luck to you.

(I do find it unusual that students are reading this article on the times union? hmmm)

Re: Spotlight Newspapers | Local News

I agree that she and the other teacher should seek legal advice.

Re: Spotlight Newspapers | Local News

Without making any judgement to specific people, I am only going to add that I am pretty sure that it is Jody Monroe, the assistant superintendent who actually makes these decisions.

Re: Spotlight Newspapers | Local News

Wow, that's shameful.

Re: Spotlight Newspapers | Local News

Teachers should not be fired because a student's grade drops. You have to look at the reasons why the grade dropped. When she's in college she could come to the rude awakening that professors don't get fired because some students get bad grades suddenly. Grades are in the control of the student and the parents, and if there is a legitimate issue with the teacher, it should not be handled like it was in this case.

Actually, it was the teacher prior to Dr. Waltz for one of the Spanish classes (a very good teacher indeed with great credentials and a native Spanish speaker) who was fired under bogus grounds as well in an almost discriminatory (and there's a few obvious reasons why I think they could've discriminated) and unethical way. She was hired, then they retracted the offer, then hired her again and 4 days later she was told that she could not continue teaching because, as they claimed, parents had complained that the kids were not learning anything and that she was inappropriate (she had only taught for 4 days how can anyone judge the learning in less than a week). I do not want to judge too much without knowing but I see that as a lie and it shows that they have cruel and unethical practices. You can tell because, not one, but two teachers on the same class were fired consecutively under similar circumstances. Is that a coincidence? I don't think so. Or maybe the parents are just being too whiny against good teacher, but that's not likely either because I know a lot of the parents. Our friend's son actually told him that she was a good teacher so far. I think this was another case of they didn't like her style and personality and found some excuses to get rid of her.

I moved here because I heard that this was a good district, but I don't like what I see, and I don't think I want my kids to go to this school.

Re: Spotlight Newspapers | Local News

I know of another teacher that was fired in this same fashion, also twice and without good reasons, by the district. They claimed false things against her. They are showing a trend.
