I think the public advocate's office is necessary. I like Bill De Blasio because he was helpful in conducting hearings on the Human Resources Administration various welfare to work programs. However, I voted for Eric Gioia because he directly helped the constituency I represent. He put cameras in public housing, he gave teachers back their money when they spent their own personal funds and other direct services. This is the kind of man I want to represent that office. However, since he didn't receive enough votes, I will definitely vote for Bill De Blasio in the up coming runoff.

Re: Koppell Fights for a Third Term (Gotham Gazette, September 8, 2009)

Although Council Member Koppell is not directly my council member, he is reachable. I went to his office once for assistance with a basketball team I was starting in Marble Hill. His office staff was able to get us free practice space in Kennedy High School and said we could follow-up with him any time. Unlike Council Member Martinez, Koppell took action. Council Member Martinez gave us promises of funds to assist with uniforms and nothing ever became of it. Unfortunately, term limits was voted by the people. We live in a democracy and should be adhered too.
