What Porter and Kramer did so excellently here is describe how CSR SHOULD be practiced - not redefine CSR. It is CSR but they cloaki it in a different name. And, of course, the idea of 'shared value" isn't new - it's how some of us have practiced CSR in any case and how some companies have practiced it for a few years already - Starbucks and their sourcing, Levi's and their consumers, Best Buy and old technology. I wrote a detailed critical analysis of CSV at http://corporatesocialreali...

Great work, but it's still CSR and it's not that new - just an excellent way of capturing some of the latest thinking and practices.

Re: New Motto For 'The Atlantic'

Haha! I don’t know if there is a line you can’t cross in American politics. But this is it. McCain is betraying his own country. I never liked his policies much. But I know that is the foundation of democracy - not agreeing. Right now I am starting to despise the man and everything he stands for. He is a greedy bastard. With no honor. No decency. He is an unAmerican unpatriotic pig. And no matter how much lipstick he wears. You can’t hide your true self for ever. We can see who he is. Unpatriotic and UnAmerican.

McCain, what you said is not American. What you said is not patriotic. What you said is not in the interest of America. What you said is a lie sold to all Americans. What you said is about your own greed. What you said is fearmongering. What is said was unethical. What you said is without honor. What you said is the type of thing the enemies of this great country and real terrorists will say.
http://angryafrican.net/200...

Re: Biden: John McCain is no maverick

This should not be about whether Palin was better than what was expected. Or whether Biden did or didn’t wipe her off the table with his knowledge and experience. It’s about who will be the second most powerful person in Washington. People say the VP decision isn’t that important. I beg to differ. The second most powerful person in the US government and not seen as that important? Do you want to run your company with a good CEO but a CFO who knows nothing of how finances work? Or a COO who knows nothing of commerce? Maybe not.

So I looked at the two candidates with two questions in mind:
1. Who would best be able to help a President achieve the change he is promising?
2. Who do you want to make the decisions and represent your country if the President isn’t there?
That should be easy.
http://angryafrican.net/200...

Re: Oh just watch it

What hit me was how smug and stupid McCain is. Not an inch of decency. What I can't understand is some people will still vote for him even after the economy is crashing and people are dying in needless wars. I used to ask whether these people are stupid. Now I know, "yes, they are". One thing for them. If McCain wins - it's your choice. You make your choice. Live with it, pay up the next $700 billion+ and shut the f*ck up. You just lost your right to b*tch.
http://angryafrican.net/200...

Re: If You Care About America, You Should Read This HuffPo Article

So true. This is my first time in an election here in the US. But in all honesty? I have never seen worse coverage by the media and a complete lack of ethics in campaign messages the way I have seen it here. And I have been involved in a few elections in my time across the globe. I still hope for an Obama win, but I just don't think it is about serving America anymore. It is just about winning. I think he might be losing the plot. Not impossible at his age, but just look at it… His wife owns a beer company but he refuses to share. He thinks flip-flops is a policy strategy instead of shoes. He doesn’t know that a chick that smiles at you doesn’t mean she is hot or a running mate. He shows some man-love by hugging Dubya but then denies they are having an affair. He thinks del.icio.us is a vetting process and he scares little Republican kids. We had to ask the question, right? Everyone claims to know. Just not sure about this one. I mean really. Can they Guy even vote? He’s not American. And I doubt whether he would be allowed into the US in any case. Think about it. Long beard, wears a dress and a Middle Eastern passport. But what if He could vote? Who would He vote for? Does He even care who you vote for? Let’s speculate. It’s all we can do. We have no direct line and He doesn’t have a Facebook Group Page or radio show. And getting ready to take aim at her over the next few months. But maybe they should take a look in the mirror and ask themselves what are they so “proud” of? Maybe they should revisit what Michelle Obama has seen from her American leaders since she was born the year after President Kennedy got killed. And then, no matter what they come up with and manage to spin, I’ll still take a straight shooter who doesn’t mince words - the Michelle way. That’s American. That’s the American way. And the choice of spouses also tells me loads of the candidates themselves. And not the way you think. http://angryafrican.net/200...

Re: Memo: Party rules require that FL and MI lose at least half of their delegates

I just wonder how much Bill is behind all the Hillary stuff? Another round of mud slinging and unfounded rumors. And I am not talking about those running to become the next US President. I am talking about the American people – or at least some of them. I am astounded to read some of the things people have to say about those leaders who are willing to put their hand up in a difficult time in the American history. What is it that makes people dig so deep to find their own worse self in the way they speak about the candidates? It’s like being in South Africa all over again back in 1994 when we had our own first democratic elections. The doomsayers lived large. But the truth is that all three would make fairly good Presidents – and all have their flaws. It won’t be the end of America. Can’t people just focus on what makes America great instead of scrapping the bottom of the barrel of humanity in the way they talk about their potential future leader? http://angryafrican.net/200...

Re: Myth of McCain multilateralism

I couldn't agree more. But it goes deeper than just him understanding multilateralism. It goes to the role of America in this world. I know. Many of you will tell me, as you have, that this election has nothing to do with us foreigners. That it is all about America. The American choice. The American future. And you are (mostly) right. This is your choice. This is about the American future. This is about America. But it does have something to do with us Johnny Foreigners. We do have a stake in this. Why? Because most level-headed people in this world still look to America for direction. We still look up to America. We look for guidance. We look to America for leadership in this crazy little sphere of ours. Question is, can America still provide it? And who offers that hope? http://angryafrican.net/200...

Re: McClatchy: Clinton blasts Bush for not stopping a project her husband approved

I get the sense that many people support McCain and Hillary because they don’t like the other option. Does that say something about them? That they are more driven by dislike and hatred than an actual position? Maybe it is because they feel they have no option. There is no alternative for them. But it is sad though. Sad that they can’t mobilize around anything other than what they are against. I hear many Republicans say, “McCain. I hate him, but he is better than the other two.” Sad. Just sad. http://angryafrican.net/200...
Isn’t this the time when people are supposed to say what they stand for? And America vote for what they want to be? Maybe people should start thinking about what they stand for. A very novel idea. Supporting someone for what they stand for. Mmmm. Think about it for a minute. Supporting someone for what they stand for. And not because you don’t like the other options. Supporting something because of what it means. Something positive. Not hatred of the other, but belief in this one.

Re: In yet another campaign finance scam, Cindy McCain gave John McCain a sweetheart deal on the use of her corporate jet.

Here's another scam - the Hamas-Obama scam McLame is trying to pull on us. I bet you Al-Qaeda will endorse Obama if they could make another video from a cave somewhere in “allied” Pakistan. Because they know how to use reverse psychology (you idiot, McCain). How do you get your enemy to do what you want them to do? Tell them the opposite. Want war? Then endorse the one guy from the “enemy” who wants peace. McDrain and the gang please note - Hamas is playing you like a little toy drum. And you are walking to their beat. McPain should wake up and think a little bit more. Think. Think. What do Al-Qaeda want? What do you think Hamas want? Chaos so they can recruit more. Anarchy so they can continue a mindless war. They want one thing and will tell you the opposite. But it is really just make-believe. A show. A show that happens every few years. Lots of noise and lots of action. But fundamentally still just a show. Nobody gets hurt. Yes, I am talking about the US Presidential election. http://angryafrican.net/200...

Re: The World's Most Innovative Companies by Region: BusinessWeek

Good insights. Especially your last point. Too many companies fail to see that the first one to make the "move" will be the one to ride the train.

Re: Hillary needs to explain to the SuperDelegates how she can beat McCain in the fall when she can't even beat Obama in the spring.
