It certainly seems there are a lot of us thinking this way now, and the great thing is we can still build an audience, even if we completely muff it up. In fact, making a complete hash of it is often the way forward (what would have happened if Woody Allen had got his way and stopped the release of Manhatten?) As long as we keep talking, the audience will still be there.

Re: Martin Scorsese Says Even Films Like Precious Should Be in 3D

3D is only any use if you are moving about, which if you are sat in a cinema, you normally aren't (unless you've got a weak bladder). So you're reduced to depth of field and the ability to focus your eyes near or far to gather information about depth, which the director/DP does for you in 2D films. Reduce everything to deep focus and you're left with a very boring and hard to understand film.

Re: My Next One Will Be Better » Attack of the Work-Shy Fop.

For a short film, beg and borrow, you'll be surprised how many people will help out.

For a feature film, no idea... :-)

Re: My Next One Will Be Better » Soth vs. Snyder!

Nice site, BTW!

It was conspicuous by it's absence from Scribomatic, so I added it :-)

Re: My Next One Will Be Better » Soth vs. Snyder!

Yeah, effectively what you did was what I did, overlayed the two paradigms. As you say, they tie up reasonably well.

I took it a step further with my custom Dramatica export (effectively the Plot Sequence Report with bells and whistles) which ties really well with the eight sequences. STC! then gives the overall story a coherence that ties together the eight sequences.

The nice thing about this approach I'm finding is that it a) makes it much easier to keep a reign on things and b) makes for much tighter scripts. Getting in late/out early gets a whole lot easier.

Re: My Next One Will Be Better » Drawing the Screenplay

Cheers Dave. Having tinkered with various bits of software, I'm rapidly coming to the conclusion that stick men and paper are the way forward. It's time to put my A-level art skills to good use :-)

Re: WAYDig: What Are You Digging?

Yup, I'm gonna get me one too! :-)

Re: I did it!

Reading back through it, it needs a lot of work. But I always find rewriting much more enjoyable than the actual creating side of things.

Creating raw material is really hard work. Sculpting the raw material into something good is much more fun.

Re: WAYDig: What Are You Digging?

Genius!

Re: WAYDig: What Are You Digging?

Oo-er Missus!

Hmm, it should reject categories it doesn't recognise...

I'll investigate - right after I just order a few videos...

Re: WAYDig: What Are You Digging?

Have we met? :-)

Re: WAYDig: What Are You Digging?

My favourite of theirs is The Grand Bazaar - monstrous riff!

Re: WAYDig: What Are You Digging?

Complete waste of life, but a good one.

Re: WAYDig: What Are You Digging?

I love the Sci-Fi elements of the story, in particular.

Re: WAYDig: What Are You Digging?

Not read either, looking forward to them one day though...

Re: WAYDig: What Are You Digging?

Love it!

Re: WAYDig: What Are You Digging?

I think it's great too...

Re: Hello WordPress!

Viola! http://alexking.org/project...
