Just watched a video about why pros still get a decent ride in on their off days during major tours. They rode with Omega Pharma during an off day in the Giro de Italia. This very reason is why the still get a ride in. Keep at it.

I'm not sure we give much of a heads up, but we definitely feel the tension you describe. Our neighborhood is like this little, beautiful diverse island surround by more challenged neighborhoods. We find that our friends are at ease once they've made it to the island, but worry about the journey to the island. It's a strange thing because like you, we don't think about it in those terms any longer and the things that drive their fear no longer drive ours.

Love the Apple Spice Junction and the Renew shop, which are both doing really well. I've been trying to figure out whether there is a model that lines up with NL well that doesn't already have a saturated market, like lawn care or construction. The fear now is that I'll not have the capacity to launch a new initiative and give it the time it needs without sacrificing the NL model as it is. I need to get that operations person in place so I can work on some of these other initiatives. So, I test things like Team NeighborLink or the furniture building that I'm doing. I'm concepting a tool bank/rental facility and a neighborhood/community workshop now that I hope to move on by the end of the year. Some low hanging fruit that will diversify what I'm doing, but nothing that is going to really bring in major revenue in the short run.

It's fun to dream about these things.

Glad you got the chance to meet Ryan. Ryan has been a great addition to the NL family over the past year and overwhelmingly excited to have him in a part-time position for the summer. We're going to tell some great stories.. At least we hope.

This is a great place to be. The Tension. It's in the tension that life that matters happens. The only advice I have is to lean into it rather than trying to eliminate it. The decision that leads to you to more time with each other and all those little things that matter more than we realize is probably the better route to go. For my wife and I, we pray about it.. a lot. and until it's still not clear but clear enough in our spirit that it feels right. It's typically what the majority wouldn't have chosen too. I hope you guys find peace in the process until you make the decision.

Glad to see this subject written about and the movement towards more accountability of development work. It's need in any context of development. Too often, charitable work is generalized as being good no matter what and revolves around the donor decision to give, not about the end result.
