Looking for a way to remove the Nokia brand from my N8
It runs Symbian 3 - the reason I bought Nokia...

Really Hope that other Handset Makers will take over Meego and continue to develop it with Intel.. No more Nokia for me. I will not help you learn by buying the first Nokia Meego phone - this mistake I made with the N900

as a shareholder and long term customer I can only say I am outraged. Steve Elop - your Companies Stock is just loosing around 12% in the European Stock exchanges.

But you might not care as you probably still have more MSFT stock from your time there....

I am interested in Meego.. but this was too much of a sell out.
What about QT?

SELOP is a trojan horse... Nokia stock is trading -12% today in Frankfurt. I am furious as a small Nokia shareholder but also as a long Customer

amazing that it takes skype around 2 weeks to find out what the trouble was. A simple twitter search (30 minutes before the global outage) lead me to believe I and my coworker next to me where not the only ones who's skype client (newest version through auto update) constantly crashed

not sure i agree with you to put the flash icon in to the settings. the flash off / on / auto is one of the most important button on any camera and should not be hidden away in any settings....

I do believe part of the success (a small part) was that Rovio was advertised big for Nokia n900 before it was even on the iPhone.

edit... i thought rovio had been aquired but as droidgamers states only a distribution company has been aquired...

Nokia has invested too much in QT, Symbian, Meego & Maemo to allow this. Even if they were to adopt Android the device would not be ready in less then a year if they want to have a competitive experience.

Not sure Schmidt would have called him to ask if he wants to adopt Android or if the question was in relation to any other "Google properties" to come pre installed.

For ALL the Android & Nokia cheerers. It would be a bad deal for the consumer. I like choice. Having 4 viable Plattforms to choose from (and I am not yet including Windows 7) is better then only having 2.

Nokia now is saying we will announce an update to Meego at the end of the year.
If you want Thomas I will bet a lot of money with you that Nokia will not be delivering a Meego Device to Consumers in 2010.

wow

i read so much negative sentiment about nokia these last days / years that i have to ask myself what is wrong with me for liking their high end range - currently I own the N900 but I am eying the N8 for the amazing camera.

me thinks bashing nokia brings hits - so in a way i am contributing to it by reading your article and even contributing to it.

I have tried the iPhone, I have tried a few Androids but nothing blew me away. What is it that is so utterly crap @ Nokia? I just don't see it. Yes the N97 was a disaster (RAM) fixed with the N97 mini which is about half the price of an iPhone (so the iPhone beats it in many aspects) the 5800 was probably not good - but it was in a price range of a feature phone.

What is so disappointing about the E7? or the N8 or the C7...? What do you compare it to?

Ewan, you wrote a long piece but did not specify what you disliked about the Nokia world you did not attend. Did you expect Meego announcements? I think it is wise NOT to announce devices that are ready in 6 to 9 months - remember the N97 disaster? which was announced at NW 08

Nokia have a trick whereby if you have a less than favourable signal, it will use some power from the battery to boost the reception, if there's enough battery power to do that.

It is not a scientific fact - BUT it is quite accurate. I myself was exposed to NLP in Trainings and we did Tests with people who did not know about NLP - People look in different directions when recalling memories or when stating things that are not true.
