Who’s next?

The first question is: what do the Ossetians want to be? Apparently anything but Georgian. So what do the Georgians do? The Georgian president, taking advantage of the distraction of the Olympic games in China, lauches a blitz on tiny Ossetia, kills a lot of people; mostly Russian citizens (and several Russian peacekeepers as well), and flattens parts of the miniscule Ossetian capital . Then the Russian bear gets angry and goes in the melee, bombing the heck out of Georgia.
Well, jogging my memory, did we not bomb the heck out of Serbia because they attacked a little province named Kosovo that did not want to be part of Serbia? That was in the 1990's. We did it even though there was not a single American living in Kosovo. We went in for the self-determination of the Kosovars, human rights, etc, etc.
I believe that what is good for the goose is good for the gander. The Ossetians want to be Russian or Ossetian, or whatever, but not Georgians. The Georgians thought they could get away with aggression and perhaps a bit of ethnic cleaning too, following the Serb model. Now they are in trouble and they are asking us to get involved on their side.
We will be damn fools to do so, and big hypocrites too. Let's give advice and predicate calm and negotiations, mediations, arbitrations, or whatever, but let's stay out of it. We do not have to be involved in every war in the planet, comprende?
