You're right, I didn't go into that in any great detail, but that was more a deliberate omission than anything else. I feel cinema etiquette deserves an article all on its own, and has been discussed quite a bit in recent times. Though I wholeheartedly concur; the best of projections can be ruined by a teenager and his/her phone, or a rowdy child and his/her oblivious parents.

mobile phones, which is wonderful. Their loyal following -- and the
fact that I even know about them, despite being on the other side of the
planet -- exemplifies how good customer service and having the viewer's
experience in mind is key to the whole issue.

A very similar experience to mine. After hearing people rave about Hugo's 3D, I was sorely disappointing by it. I could tell, however, that it was less the film's fault as it was the projection. In my screening, where I sat in the dead centre of the cinema for "best results", it looked like two images competing for the screen. Very distracting. Very ironic, too, given the message of the movie.

The fact that you had to watch them toy with image whilst it was playing is just not acceptable. Can they not test the projection before each screening? And, as you say, have a standard in mind? Apparently not.

Disney, in fact, had nothing to do with this film. With the story being in the Public Domain, no one owns the copyright to the fairytale, which is how Disney were able to make the film in the first pace. And while Disney's may be the most definitive version of the story, it was far from being the first and nor was it ever going to be the last.

Hi Carryanna, thank you for your astuteness. What Tom needed was an Editor, which is my role, but I clearly dropped the ball on this one.

I corrected the instances of "losing", "one's" and "recognisable". However, I can find no instance where "its" or "it's" is incorrectly used. Care to enlighten me?

I certainly felt betrayed after rewatching the trailer and realising just how different it was. It's unethical, to be sure. The issue hasn't nearly as much attention as it deserves. This simply cannot become the norm....
