My favorite local speakers in Arkansas are Tammy Fletcher, Andrea Lennon and Laura Macfarlan. I love going to see women's ministry conferences that have names that everyone knows, but actually knowing women that are living out God's Word in their daily lives is so encouraging. Please email me if you want contact information for any of these ladies. They all do conferences, banquets and retreats!

Re: For Women

I'm involved in women's ministry at our church in a volunteer aspect. We have several Bible studies going on during the year. Our church does one in the mornings and one at night to reach the large amount of working moms at our church.

We have different service projects/outreach events that are also fellowship opportunities for women: baby shower for the Arkansas Baptist Promise House, churchwide ice cream social to raise money for mission trips, etc. We also have banquets, dinners, conferences, game nights, Mugs & Muffins, Beth Moore simulcast, etc. for growth and discipleship.

One of my favorite events is coming up in a few weeks. It's our 5th annual 'Tis the Season-which is everything Christmas. Tickets are only $5 which encourages women to buy tickets for their friends or give some away. Everyone brings Christmas goodies to share (real food and sweets) and then we eat and have tons of Christmas related door prizes to share. Then we break out in sessions and go to different classes (decorating for Christmas, easy recipes to take to parties, cookie decorating, games, how to make tutus and hair bows for girls and decorating with mesh). There are 6 classes and each lady chooses 3 based on her interest. Each leader shares Jesus in her own unique way during the classes. Women wear their Christmas pajamas or favorite holiday attire. Childcare is provided. It is an outreach event, because many times you can invite ladies that don't attend church to come to something like this that may not necessarily go to a church service. It's really a way for them to get to know some ladies and hear genuine prayers and to be encouraged. We will also be sending Christmas cards to some Native Americans on a reservation in South Dakota that our church has a relationship with. Just a way for us to reach out during a fellowship time.

One excellent resource that I have used for several years is Building an Effective Women's Ministry by Sharon Jaynes. It tells how to develop a plan, gather a team and watch God work. All the ladies that serve alongside me are volunteers as well. We are involved with women's ministry because we feel led by God. It is easier for me to share God with a woman like me (or different than me) than with a child or a stranger. Everyone has different gifts from God and you just have to pray and get out there and use them!
