Actually I am using a windows phone this year. 2010 was iphone, 2011 was android, 2012 windows phone. I would say each has his own.

So what is the actual issue? Does'nt wireless at a point close totower and once it reaches access concentrator get onto a ATM or a high speed optical link and becomes wired. It is not wireless till it gets to server like youtube. No competition? So do whatever you want?!

That was a very interesting story. My paternal grandmother still lives in Tirukkodikaval. I wonder if we have songs on Thirukoteeswarar temple of Tirukkodikaval and Durga temple of Maharajapuram. I used to go regularly to these temples during my childhood vacations. I think the concerts of those days in temples and villagers crowding and listening through the night were different experiences. My father says Madurai Mani Iyer used to sing after 8 pm during his school years in Sengalipuram village in temples or mittams of houses and villagers sit in rapt attention through midnight.

BTW we are waiting for your concert in San Jose this season. Prince Rama Varma gave an outstanding concert with Varadarajan and Satish Kumar at CET hall in San Jose. He gave a 6 week USA tour and commented he will not come for another 14 years. He mentioned previous tour was 14 years back. When you see him please tell him we are waiting for him to come back next year also. You should encourage him to come every year.

Great to see all in one place. Certainly with changing times, e need quality content like these on youtube. IPL telecase as a big hit in US, it was flawless quality. With your concerts in youtube, you are setting a trendsetter. My opinion is more we listen in youtube and other clips, more albums and itunes songs get purchased, and people attend more live concerts.

Yes, let us keep discussions here on music and not drag unnecessary references to some incidents which involved some other artist. I fully agree with Sanjay's view on piracy of commercial recordings and we should support that. Many of us are in software line and we know what it feels like in software piracy.

Waiting to see in in Jaya TV, for rasikas abroad numtv has subscriptions to view jaya tv on a per month basis. Glad you are popularising Mayavaram Viswanatha Sastrigal. Sure, we will request the songs next year! We thoroughly enjoyed your marathon 4 hour concert at CET, San Jose. I specially liked the Tiruvadi Charanam rendition. 7 yr old daughter sat through the whole concert!

Interesting article. I never spend much time among rasikas listening to their comments. So I am not able to relate to these article. I can very well imagine. I am an ardent lover of cricket commentaries, like to listen and imagine than watching, I wonder how Srinivasan will do a running commentary of a live music concert, comments interspersed with musical notes!

Eagerly awaiting for your Oct concert in San Jose! Hoping for lot of sixers and googleys..

This was an excellent conversation, Fascinating that you asked the professor all those questions, As you say he is very modest. Music departments should break ground and do cutting edge research in Chennai and colloborate with musicians. Even before I heard the podcast, I have discussed this topic of putting children to do research in music. If they feel inclined let them do. In US, we know a girl who is accomplished violin player doing research for NIH national Institute of health in DC how music can help cancer patients, combining medical with music research. As you say they should not be fearful and look out at exciting opportunities. I am surprised why he is averse to newspapers showcasing music research. It was a very enjoyable podcast and to think about.

I have been wondering what happened to Charsur. They could have kept it and transitioned smoothly. I had to get some CDs from amazon in the interim.
Sanjay, could you ask Charsur to get Arar Asaippadar movie when you come on the US tour. I would like to get a copy at SIFA in San Jose concert. I cannot find it in charsur site, and my trip to india may not happen till next year.

Again comment on strike, US is trying to emulate France, so don't be alarmed if you see strikes in US. Obama wants to socialize US like france. banks, auto, insurance industries are being nationalized in USA. Anyway, looking at positive things I liked your observation of a small kid starting a applause. If you have any video snippets, that will be great.
