As such, it's probably the earliest I can pinpoint listening to "real" music, as my mother used to blast it all the time once we got a cd player (other albums I can remember from that time include Steve Winwood's "Back in the High Life" and Stevie Ray Vaughn's "In Step"). I have a lot of experience with So.

To be honest, though, it took me a really long time to figure out that his earlier stuff was just as good. Even longer figuring out that early Genesis might be worth my while to listen to. Still haven't gotten around to doing that, really.

Down the Dolce Vita is an awesome song. It's hard to pick favorites, but I'd have to say Biko and Shaking the Tree are mine. Screw the strange looks; if people don't understand musical genius then they deserved to get Steam'd. Um. Something like that. You should play Intruder for them, that ought to go over well.

Re: Doubletake! Also, I think the local rock radio station here has a similar named thing (although I seem to remember them always emphasizing the 2-4, like beer) where they would play two tracks by the same artist, so, really, it's been done.

I like Doubletake!, although I've seen Shamwow commercials and I know not what Brad speaks of.

Re: XTC – I Can’t Own Her

Brad turned me into an XTC fan.

Re: The Smashing Pumpkins – Love

You know, I gotta say that this is still one of my favorite albums ever. And they're still one of my favorite bands. And Corgan does have a big head, but that hasn't put me off or anything.

They came to Halifax, once, just before they broke up that time. One of the handful of shows I went to (compared to your, what, hundreds?). And you know what? They sucked then too. Pretty much. But I had an amazing time in the crowd. Got kicked in the head enough times. (That might explain why I like it so much, in an odd sort of way, if you understand the backwards reasoning.)

Re: The Smashing Pumpkins – Love

refrain stay away prevent?

Re: Nine Inch Nails – Mr. Self Destruct

Almost afraid to mention this, but I never listened to much NIN back then. I mean, friends had his stuff and I heard enough of it to know that I liked it, but I never had any of it in my possession to experience it for myself. So let's just say I was a casual fan. (I absolutely loved the song and video for The Perfect Drug, though.)

But, I also like his newer stuff, which probably stems from the fact that it was ridiculously easy to grab his last couple albums. You have to admit that he's making way more headway into digital distribution than Radiohead tried to do.

Oh, and I may have a soft spot for the hip-hop scene here in the HFX, but that album that Reznor did with Saul Williams has got to be my favorite. His fingerprints are all over that one. And, it was also five bucks to download. (Not that I think you'd ever listen to that one, but I've got these two pennies, you see...)

Re: Radiohead – Lucky

Hey, my real name is Sarah!

Re: The Beatles – Eleanor Rigby

Hey, yeah, I got you in Google Reader too, although I don't think I've seen it go back up.
