I agree with the others....news and events should be county. Pell City is in another area. I am reading from south Talladega county. I have little or no interest in what is going on in Pell City area. Keep it local news. We have AL.com for state news....

The Fayetteville area is a growing community with Farmlinks Golf Club and the growing numbers moving to the lake. This is a first step in the right direction. However, more attention is needed to updated fire protection as well. Many in the community are several miles from the nearest fire hydrant.

No one can deny this country NEEDS some type of health care reform, but this massive rush to Obamanation is NOT the way to go about it. In my humble opinion, which I STILL have the right to express in America, this adminstration is the worst we have ever had. It could not have come at a worse time in history. When were are needing true American leadership to help us dig out of this economic crisis, we have a radical liberal in the office of the presidency who is determined to leave his mark of true socialism and communism on this great country. He fooled and tricked Americans into voting for him, by promising "Change".....He claimed to be a moderate at every oportunity.....Well, all I can say is our worst fears have come true and anyone who supports anything this man says or has anything to do with including the , DH, shame on you.......Remember you are an American.

The Beta version wouldn't let me logon to comment, so I will post here. It's a great site. Full of information, BUT, you should be charging your advertisers, not your readers. It's backwards. There's too many free sites out there to get local news and if you are putting your hopes and having it survive with online subscriptions in this part of the country in this day and age, I sadly predict it will not work. Take a look at the way al.com works....you can buy ad space online only if you wish or in both the print versions of the paper AND online. Offer your advertising ala' cart! Good luck!

Arn_Anderson, your post infuriates me. This has NOTHING to do with government taking away livelihood. This has EVERYTHING to do with basic human kindness. You obvious have no regard for God given life. Statistics have shown for years that those who abuse animals think nothing of moving their abuse to humans. These poor animals deserve so much better. I am hoping the "system" can help find them homes very quickly. If every person reading this post could contact one of the shelters listed above and offer just a bag of puppy food. It would help a little.

Get on with it....Time is money....We who depend on reliable cell service for our business are suffering enough in other ways these days. We pay for our city business licenses every February and depend on the city to keep up with the times.
It's time to get MOVING on the cell towers.....

I find it disturbing that the leader of the free world is a smoker and is against smoking for "all the little people". He freely admits he is addicted. Also, as far as his health care initiative, when asked if his wife or daughters needed an immediate surgery would they have to wait, his response was, "I will take care of my family". What about our families....will we all be given a pain pill and told to age gracefully?
Hmmmmmmmm, where have I heard that before???

I never cease to be amazed at how people can become so agitated over little thinks like a billboard they disagree with. I know we all have the constitutional right to free speech. But what about the other constititional rights that are now in jeopardy? The first that comes to mind is do we have a president that was born in the US? Do we have a congress that is following his every move taking away our constitional rights? Are we weakening our national defences under his leadership? WAKE up people.....Don't moan and groan about the little things......Go out and knock on doors and get people to vote in this next election to SAVE our constitutional rights. Get a more balanced Congress and hopefully next time a Presidential candidate that can PROVE that he is an american citizen and has the best interest of America at heart.

We are VERY fortunate to have the Pursell family in our community. Those who are critical, most likely, do not live nearby and actually see the good they are doing. There are many charities they support that go unmentioned. They deserve a huge thank you from Talladega County.

I have been one of those who have traveled to Montgomery many times to face our State Representatives....to ask questions, to ask them to represent me and have them turn their backs on me. I have also attended so many County Commission meetings, I cannot count them. I was treated more as a nuicance than a concerned citizen. So when we are able to accomplish something by doing what we as American Citizens have a right to, I do not wish to be preached to as to what the best way to handle my involvement with officials is. The face to face meetings RARELY work......

There is NO doubt the Pursell family have contributed to the area and should receive highest praise. Meeting Jimmy Pursell is like stepping back into time. He is full of wonderful stories about the past and the county should be greatful to have such people living here. Kudo's to Pursell Family.

It's nothing but making GREEN dollars for those trying to make a buck like NBC and Al Gore supporters. I guess they all think we are dummies.......and not smart enough to know that this planet has gone through warming, cooling cycles for Billions of years. It's unfortunate that the county and city will lose the tax revenue, as well as local people will lose the convenience of the business. Also not to mention the local jobs that will be lost.

But these kind of closings will continue all around the country until we have leadership in Washington that is more concerned with the American Economy than apologizing to every terrorist we might have ever offended. We need to remember that the next time we vote. America is the greatest country in the world today. We need to let our voices be heard to keep it that way!

Like him or not George Sims is a fair man and leaves some pretty big shoes to fill. I hope the Judicial Selection Committee takes their task very seriously. We have enough problems in the county already and this is an opportunity to present some of our brightest to the Governor for his final selection. I only wish a few other names were on the list....

This is just another example of the State Democrats following the leadership of the National Democrats, i.e. unpaid taxes, wasteful spending, and today I read that a "full time makeup artist has been hired for the first lady". In these tought times almost every American is facing, how can we sit back and read about things like Zeb Little and not realize that we are swatting at mosquitos when a thundering heard of buffalo is breathing down our necks?
