For me, it's all about time blocking and planning ahead. Writing requires total concentration on my part, so I block out times, and sometimes entire days where I know it's just about the content. Email gets first priority, but it gets turned into a list of to-dos so that I can get it off my mind and focus. Then, writing usually starts with a list of content by priority, and my deadline is always Friday. That way, content is always ready a week ahead of time, and I'm not distracted during the week by the stress of any last minute content deadlines. You can't be productive when you're freaking out! :)

Hi Joe,

You're right on the money. It's not revolutionary, but I found the screenshot examples and corresponding data in the book (pretty much on every page) to be the book's biggest assets. The talky talk is always inspirational, but the data to back it all up is something I think a lot of businesses need to see before they put in all the extra effort (not me, but businesses I've worked with, certainly!)

Hi Johnny, I agree with you, I'm referring more to the abuse that I see bloggers get around the Internet. They write something really beautiful or impactful and the first ten comments point out an apostrophe in the wrong place. That sort of thing silences people that otherwise have great ideas and things to share, and I think that's just rotten. Blogs are for everybody, and spellcheck is as imperfect as humans. :)

As someone who ghostblogs for CEOs I don't find it unethical, personally. It doesn't hurt my feelings or bruise my ego when my name isn't on something I wrote. I work with CEOs, talk to them on the phone, have meetings with them, gather their thoughts, then put those thoughts into writing. Why should I take credit for their ideas just because I'm a better writer than they are? I don't think this is exactly what you're talking about though, I just wanted to get that side of ghostblogging out there.

Where I agree with you is when a company hires some guy overseas to write a random topic and then says they wrote it. Worse than an ethical issue, that's just an issue with quality. Do you really want someone writing under your name that you've never talked to, saying things you don't think or believe in? All for the sake of SEO? Again, I wouldn't consider that unethical because the writer signed up as a ghostblogger, but it's not great for business, either. Much better to hire someone you can talk to and develop articles with.

You can certainly update the blog post and change the date if you like, I've done that too. But here I'm only talking about Twitter. Since Google uses Twitter as a major SEO signal, you're "refreshing" the article by Tweeting about it again. Basically, this is a practice you should do for every new article. I'm suggesting that you also do it for your old articles to give them an SEO boost when Google decides they're old.

Probably because they already saw the video for the song, filled with naked women, (which his wife encouraged him to do) and listened to the lyrics, so it's not all that shocking. With that said, I'm also not shocked or disappointed by Miley's performance either, she's a grown woman, she can do what she wants.
