Buying SIMS locally is the best option if you're visiting one country. But if you're visiting multiple countries on different continents and not staying for more than a few days in each country, using Vodafone's $5 international roaming is the most convenient (not cheapest) option.

Might not be a big deal to some but most of their planes offer a powered USB port in the economy class and this is extremely useful for keeping your smartphones/tablets charged if you're on a long haul flight.

1. You only pay for the days you use your mobile. Free wifi was readily available so I didn't have to roam everyday while on the trip.

2. The last thing you want to do while on holidays is hunting for a sim and then trying to get it work with your phone and meddling with settings. The convenience is worth a lot more to most people.

3. I paid $175 (including my monthly payment) for the time I was away. And this was for a trip going to countries like US, Europe and Asia. Staying for a few days in different countries in Europe makes changing sims a time consuming task. No thanks. A local sim makes sense when you're going to be in a country for a fair amount of time (more than a couple of days). Not so when you're country or continent hopping.

4. If I paid $20-30k for a huge trip (with my wife), I think $175 is nothing just to make sure we can stay connected whenever and wherever is a small price to pay without any stress.

Love the $5 roaming. I was on a 7 week trip for my honeymoon and it worked a treat for the US and Europe but unfortunately the roaming didn't include my last stop in the Maldives!

I've got the Bellroy Card Sleeve wallet which is quite similar to the one reviewed but without a cash strap and has a pocket each on the side of the wallet. And it's made in Australia too! For some reason I don't trust these straps for notes...

Most of the brands on that car are in a sad state. Norton 360, Nokia, Vodafone, Holden...I'm guessing only Caltex and Komatsu are doing relatively okay.

I've the got the Fitbit Flex. It does very similar things to the Jawbone Up but is not open like the Up on services like IFTTT. Have to note the Flex's iOS app doesn't look as polished as the Up one as well. On the other hand, I prefer the understated design of the Flex.
