Too freaking cute! I feel so educated. I now know what a Tim Tam is and how to do a Tim Tam Slam. Now i'm going to have to run out and see if I can find them in SW Virginia.

Loved the picture of your card box! It turned out awesome! We did the tree at our wedding... We draped crystals and hanging votive holders on it and called it a "Wish Tree" We told guests to leave words of wisdom, advice, memories from their wedding, or draw a picture. Such a wonderful idea and much more personal than a traditional guest book. It's a great keepsake and it was fun to hear what people had to say.

We recently moved so I would create cute little change of address postcards, thank you cards, birthday postcards or shower invitations for my friends upcoming baby shower.

I also did this for my wedding. We couldn't use bird seed or bubbles outside of the church where I had my wedding so this was an alternative. My mom bought the dowel sticks from Hobby Lobby. They are pre-cut and perfect for the ribbon sticks. Not sure if you can return the ones you've already gotten... or if guys have Hobby Lobby stores in Virginia... but I did find something similar on Michaels.com:

My guess is that most craft stores carry dowel rods like this.

I know this doesn't really solve your question, but just thought I'd offer an alternative.
