I get the feeling that people will get slightly bored of the social websites like Facebook. The novelty will wear off in the end. People need more of a subject to congregate (in the virtual sense) around. Maybe the social networks that are built around a certain subject are the future until something else comes along. People need a subject to talk about. Maybe facebook is not the forum where you can find this. For example there are a number of sites now that discuss apps for iphones. There is an interesting subject that people can talk about. Sites like Freshapps and www.iwikiphone.com have a subject. Twitter even has most talked about on its home page. I think Facebook lacks a subject sometimes and this makes me leave it unsatisfied. I would a something to talk about the odd time instead of having to instigate something with someone in your network.

I think that Google probably cared very little about revenue streams from youtube. It was more important for them to stop anybody else acquiring it and leveraging it in order to challenge the tight grip google has over the internet users (i.e. almost everyone in the world). An extra billion is not much to pay to nip any challenge at the bud like they have managed in doing the deal in the first place.

Good article. Twitting is certainly harder than it looks from the outside. I went in a bit gung-ho initially neglecting some of its intricacies. This backfired slightly but with the help of a bit of tutoring and a couple of articles like this one, I starting to see reek the benefits.

There are some sites that you can see some of the smaller developers. It is a site where iphone users rate their favorite apps and create independent reviews of apps. This is great way for smaller developers to get their apps out there as opposed to trying the lottery of just putting it into the app store.
