1) Yes and no. Lots of times I will see something I just read because we'll have subscribed to the same feeds. At times, it's almost possible to tell when both of us are reading b/c stuff will show up again right after I had gone over it. Vice versa, I'll come to something from you before I get to it in my own set of feeds. Time travel, perhaps?

2) Google Reader. And I subscribed after one of your several mentions on this blog.

Reminds me somewhat of ClaimID. Obviously, both are trying to do different things in different ways, but I think the driving force at the core of all this is online identity management. I signed up, populated a little bit, and will explore some more tomorrow.

Great round-up. I use & love Google Reader as well, but once it the homepage widget doesn't work with Google Apps For Your Domain. So, on my start page, I have my e-mail and calendar and still have to keep an extra tab open.

Although, the script that merges your Feeds with E-Mail might be a temporary solution to that problem. I can't wait until Google officially integrates Reader and Gmail, adds a search function, and updates the homepage widget to work with GAYD.

I used to use Google IG, then I switched my domain over to Google Apps For Your Domain and created a custom start page for myself and my family members. I was all set to go with that, and exited to have everything I needed (Gmail widget, Google reader widget, and Google Calendar widget) right on my own custom page but I found out soon after that there was one fatal flaw.

The Google Reader Widget designed for Google IG doesn't work on GAFYD homepages. An Achilles heal, if you must. Until this compatibility is implemented by Google, I my homepage is Gmail with a Greasemonkey script that displays a section where I can read all my feeds.

I'm with David on this one. I was all ready to wait it out until October but now this announcement has gotten my wheels spinning. What are your thoughts? Right now, I think I'm just suffering from some "analysis paralysis" and should just pull the trigger...but, essentially, I'm stuck.

I've been itching to pick up a Mac Mini to act as a media center/home computer while the MBP is my main machine. Anyone think this is worth it? I've heard various things about it being discontinued, no Santa Rosa, etc.

Maybe things are buggy b/c this just got linked on TC and the other half of the world is finally using the search/import feature, but the Gmail import doesn't seem to work if you have a Google Apps-run address (as I do).

I was all set for the new 'Berry Curve on T-Mobile to replace my aging (4 years!) Samsung cell phone but now this has added fuel to the iPhone fire.

Looking forward to your thoughts/experiences when (or if) you pick up God's favorite telephone.

Also, don't you think Apps Premier users should've gotten IMAP first? I'm a paying customer just like you and the GOOG is being prude.

Yes. It could and has. Several months ago, when I still used coComment & Citibank I encountered this exact situation and tried, sort of in vain, to get Citibank to recognize it:

Some of the links in those posts and others you'll find online might point to "journal.ratcliffe-lee.com" as the domain. I'm in the middle of changing things around and if you point it to "jratlee.tumblr.com" instead, it should work.

Yup, I created the "jratlee" account initially to manage the comments on my jratlee.com tumblr. when i went to set up the comments for my family's blog, another tumblr for the ratcliffe-lee.com domain, i created a seperate account, ratlee, using a different e-mail address, etc. during the set-up of the ratlee account, disqus gives me the option to designate another user to manage the forum and there is where i connected my jratlee profile to the ratlee forum.

i understand that both forums share the same title in the dropdown menu, that is why i want to change the info in one of them so i can tell which one i'm editing (as well as my original need, to change the info of the jratlee forum). i've tried the exact links you're suggesting and keep getting the same error message.

do you need me to take a screen shot of it?

yup, it says "ratlee" is the forum creator (this is for the ratlee account) and that "jratlee" can moderate as well as administer forum settings.

when i log in as "jratlee" - for the jratlee account/forum, it says that i'm the forum creator and i have all the correct privileges.

i'm pretty sure this is a bug on your end. before i go through the trouble of taking a screen shot, there is no way you can administer this from the back end? just go into my jratlee account and try to change the forum settings...the title/descrip/URL section and you'll, hopefully, get the error i'm talking about.

for example, right now, after checking those permissions for you...i'm looking at my dashboard in a new tab (in safari) for the forum settings and the url says "ratlee" but on the top right, where it says "dashboard/profile, etc" at the very end, it says "log out jratlee"...i don't think that's supposed to happen.

it did, thank you. however, when logged in as jratlee and going to change the rest of the forum settings (description/URL), i still get the same error message.

in the essence of time, this is what the error message says:

"There was an error saving your changes."

it shows up in a cream colored rectangular box under the drop down menu that lets you change the forum you're working in. the url i'm at is: http://disqus.com/forum-set...

having no idea how this works or anything, is there some character limit to what shows up in the drop-down menu? everything for the ratlee forum/account is fine.

for the jratlee forum, i'd like the forum settings options to read as the following:

title - everyday observations of regular people
description - the journal of john ratcliffe-lee.
URL - http://jratlee.com

even when i just try and change the title from "jratlee" to "jratlee.com", i get the error message.

could it be safari or something that you're doing as a mod/admin that i'm not or can't do?

This is an awesome gift guide. Especially good for first-time, soon-to-be MINI owners who are unfamiliar with the MINI aftermarket (i.e. me). One question, is there any difference (besides price & brand) between the Helix and Craven antennas?

Really, really, really disappointed. So for the people who's dealers (Morristown MINI) installed the kit fully knowing that they shouldn't be, what happens when the actual Auto kit comes out? Am I the sucker that has to buy a whole new kit? Or will my ECU software be upgrade free of charge?

Unless I hear back from my e-mails into MINI very soon, it might warrant a trip to the actual dealership to collect on this issue and everything else they owe me (still haven't gotten my JCW wheels & tires, they never fully put on my badging and my car was delivered with two scratches on the bumper).

@MarkD: thanks for giving them a call. Around 4pm EST today I received an e-mail back from Ed, the manager there and he said he forwarded my e-mail to Fred, their service manager, to see what kind of ECU software my JCW kit had.

Obviously, not the answer I was looking for and obviously, according to this post, my car doesn't have the correct JCW kit on it. I've asked Ed what the next steps are to make sure, when the Auto kit does come out, that it gets put on my car as I was under the impression I was ordering.

In all my e-mail correspondence, I've been CC'ing Paul Macerone at MINI USA. Dave Dobler, my Motoring Advisor (who I don't even think is at Morristown MINI anymore), told me that Paul is the area manager for Open Road Auto Group that runs/owns Morristown MINI. He has yet to comment or offer any type of solution.

Safe to say, if tomorrow passes without any progress on MINI's end, I'm heading straight to the dealer after work.

Just wanted to give everyone a quick update. Spoke with Fred Gallo, the service manager from Morristown MINI, and he said that my JCW kit is tied specifically to my VIN # and build. That the only thing in question is if it has the ECU software for manual or automatic transmission.

This pretty much contradicts all the information in this thread but I wanted to keep you updated. I'm bringing my car in on 1/22 to address everything. I've pointed Fred to the information in this post and I'm waiting to hear back from him.

@Gabe: My oversight, apologies. I'm guessing I'm just looking for someone at MINI USA or Morristown MINI to in fact confirm this (that my car is one of these that 'slipped out') and that the ECU software upgrade is all I'll need to actually have a legit JCW auto.
