Instagram hatte etwas, dass nennt man Momentum. Und das rund um eines der wichtigsten Medien im Netz: Fotos. Qype hatte schon lange kein Momentum mehr, aber sehr wertvolle Daten...

Thanks for the review!

Both iTranslate Voice and SayHi rely on the same voice recognition technology from Nuance, so there shouldn't be any real differences.

The delays are maybe because of the huge traffic that we received since the last few days. We are doing our best to solve any issues around that.

iTranslate Voice has Dictionaries for common words & phrases. And it has a better UI, but of course I'm biased ;-)

Fully supported have both voice input and voice output.
Languages with voice only support voice output at the moment.
We will add more languages with full support as soon as they're available.

This is a very old blog post and it is not a problem anymore. We have solved this and now have one of the most robust translation servers in the industry, that also include things like dictionaries.

Sure.

But this is a feature that will be built by Google anyway. Facebook also implemented such a feature eventually. I just find it odd to speculate about buying something like this for a "getting rich price" when it's most likely already on GOOG's todo list anyway.

Tageszeitungen von morgen wird es nicht geben.

Ich glaube die Zukunft von Nachrichten sieht aus wie der Facebook Stream. Ich bekomme Nachrichten aus den Quellen die mich interessieren und basierend auf meinen Likes, Comments und Hides wird der Stream mit der Zeit auf mich zugeschnitten.

Im Grunde passiert die Zukunft von Nachrichten mit Diensten wie Facebook, Twitter oder Google Reader eh schon vor unseren Augen. Verdienen wird man nur mit Werbung und das geht nur, wenn man eine Mega Skalierung hat (100 mio++), weil nur so kann bekommt relevante Targetierung hin.

Hi Louis.

As you may remember, about one and a half year ago about the same thing happened to me with ReadBurner, beeing copied by RSSMeme and others. I personally had not so much against the clones, since competition is a good motivator.

The problem is, that it's not really hard to build the first iteration of these aggregators. The hard part is to keep pushing it into the right direction and to keep innovating (one part where both ReadBurner & RSSMeme failed, otherwise they should be in that space today).

Let them fight it out.
I believe that ultimativley the innovator and thought leader will win over the copy cat.
Of course we all know that this is not always the case (eg. Apple vs MS) ;-)

I used to read your blog posts regularly, but I just don't have the time to play around with Twitter and FriendFeed all day. To me there everything is just too cluttered and way too much bullshit.

I love simple things and a blog is a fairly simple thing that already makes sense to hundreds of million people. Also I love the way how a blog is not realtime but totally asynchronous and I can read it whenever I have time.

So if you wanna reach Mainstreet and not Geekstreet than my advise is to restart blogging.

What a lot of people seem to forget is that marketing is expensive and not very effective. What you need is an app that is useful or original. Such an app sells itself.

My advise: Don't focus on marketing (unless your app is in a vertical niche). Focus on building a great app that people really want.

Only problem is that this is even harder than all those marketing challanges ;-)

Sorry Jeff, but you don't seem to know how expensive and time consuming multi platform development is.

We're doing contract work for large media companies on iPhone, Android and Blackberry and they all start complaining after some time.

And I can't hear that sales numbers argument for BlackBerry, Symbian & co anymore...

We have the data: the exact same apps see 10x to 100x more downloads on the iPhone than on all other platforms combined. Often it's even more than that...

When it comes to paid apps, all other platforms than the iPhone are total waste of time (just talk to some Android devs).

Don't get me wrong: I hope this will change, because Apple needs strong competition. Otherwise they'll get to arrogant...

But right now the iPhone is the way to go...
