I am more inclined to oppose to "100%" anything. There is a mix that we need to consider, especially as so many providers do not offer a clear way to make your data move freely off their Web platform. Is CouchDB and other similar services what makes sense? I do not know for certain but I like the perspective that services can be both on the Web and other places. I do believe we need more transparency with services, Even if there is more transparency, there is still a larger world out there where advancements are mind boggling. The Web is not the answer to everything and nor should it be.

Re: Amazon Responds with Export Capability for Virtual Machines

Good question, Ed. It allows for new data to become part of the viewing experience. In that respect, it changes the nature of traditional devices, making them more thin clients that have cloud-based operating systems. That's a transformation that changes television, the way we view programs and by extension, the way marketers and site developers offer their value.

Re: 5 Ways Google TV Will Disrupt Web Analytics

Jeff - Thanks. I think it is the social aspect that will be most significant. There are differences between watching TV and someone looking over your shoulder to view a site. What new measurements may grow out of this new medium? A hybrid that integrates web analytics and location based systems?

Re: The Rise of Bloggers, Practitioners and a Generation of Enterprise Irregulars

I think many of these fit that bill. He reached out to me when I was new to my beat at ReadWriteWeb. He asked if I would like to talk to a few of his clients for a picture of the market. That was a huge help. He did not pitch me. He just got in touch and introduced me to some smart people. Yes, believe it or not, I include you in that group. ;)

The best PR people in my experience are the ones like Mike who get in touch and just talk with you. I am so much more willing to listen to people if they approach me in this manner.

Re: Alexander H. Generally, I see that comments on public threads like FriendFeed and Twitter, too, are far more civil than a lot of what you see on the well-known blogs.
