Pienissä markkinoissa, joita Pohjoismaat ovat, ei ole luontaisesti riittävän suurta kotimarkkinaa tuotevetoisten korkean teknologian yritysten kasvulle. Tämä johtaa myös siihen, että paikallisesti on vaikeaa rakentaa riittävän kovaa osaamista ja rahoitusinfrastruktuuria ns. "born global" -tuoteyrityksille. Riskit karkaavat nopeasti käsistä kun pitäisi kansainvälistyä ennen kuin mitään evidenssiä tuotteen kysynnälle ja myyntikitkalle on kotimarkkinasta vielä saatu.

Tämän takia palveluliiketoiminnalla on ollut helpompaa kasvaa - pienessä markkinassa on helpompaa palvella usein hyvin erilaisia asiakkaita kuin etsiä yhtä pientä segmenttiä jolle tarjota maailmanluokan tuotetta. Se myös vaatii vähemmän investointeja. Jotta tästä rajoitteesta päästään eroon, tarvitaan lisää täysin demokraattisia, edullisia ja globaaleja digitaalisia jakelukanavia, jollaista esim. Applen App Store ja Googlen Play Store edustavat älypuhelinsovelluksille. Viime aikojen menestykset onkin nähty lähinnä näitä kanavia hyödyntävissä pelialan yhtiöissä.

Since the iPhone 5 and iOS 6 came along, I've wondered about the seemingly random design of Apple applications. The color schemes and styles vary from app to app so much that it feels almost as if they've been done by completely different companies for different platforms. I, for one, welcome the (hopefully) upcoming unification of the style and UX also on the app level. It will make the Apple experience more uniform and much simpler for the users to pick up new Apple developed apps.

to i-Pad (v): To carry around an enlarged phone without phone functionality, camera or support for Flash content and pretend it to be cool.

Eric, thanks for the post. I was amazed on the helpfulness of the customer service at Verizon. Now trying it out with unlimited data only package for a while - we'll see how this plays out.

Eric - the new theme is MUCH better than the old one, but I suggest you still clean it up a little to make it more readable. There are also still some layout bugs that need to be ironed out. Anyway, I think it is a big step to the right direction.
