Trick or treaters are so cute! But the majority of the ones who showed up at our house didn't bother to say it! They just stood there and stared at me, holding open their candy-collecting-gear. And it was kids plenty old enough to say it...do some parents just not tell them to? It was weird.

Oh don't feel guily about getting too excited over panko. If that's what I think it is (cue tasty memories of eating in Japan) it's worth getting too excited about!

(Only problem in Japan was that some restaurants used awful cuts of chicken, practically just cartilage-y scraps, and covered them with panko. But the panko part was always good!)

I don't really think Barbies are the problem, I think it has more to do with how your parents and family members deal with and discuss beauty issues. That stuff just wasn't a big deal when I was little and Barbies were just another toy. Sometimes, Barbie even took off her fancy clothes, put on some scraps, and played Cave People with the local dinosaurs.

And yeah, kids are smarter than some people think! Kids see real adults all the time, why WOULD they think that when they grow up they literally should look like a Barbie doll when NO adult they've seen does?

I do think that there should be a wide variety of dolls though, just like there's a wide variety of people, even if the dolls are a stylized version of real humans.
