For me the question became more of how to structure a whole day and a set of tasks. I came up with my own system called TimeStacks that works well in tandem with Pomodoro's (but each work on their own just as well). Check http://www.timestacks.co/ for details!

Re: Accidental Emacs

I recently added screen to the mix to have a development environment residing on a server, instead of my laptop (which got soaked, so for a while I was hopping from terminal to terminal). It's pretty amazing I have to say and I'm considering having this as my default setup for development from now on:

SSH to the node, starting emacs under screen: screen emacs
Start editing, open a couple of shells etc.
Close the ssh connection. Go for a walk.
Come back, ssh to node, screen -D -R -- Everything as I left it. Again and again ;)

Combined with all the capabilities you list above, I'm super happy.

Re: Will the Mobile Web Kill Off the App Store?

We just recently wrote a blogpost on why the mobile web is the future, not apps.

Our main arguments are:

Hyperlinks create a usable and connected experience.
Platform neutrality is a step towards rational product development.
Application stores are the new walled gardens.

http://mobileanalyticssimpl...

Re: Example Post

Hi mat!

Right now, the Tracking Pixel is located at the bottom, just before your closing body tag. (Which understandably is the place for analytics-codes, such as Google Analytics, but not for our Tracking Pixel)

The problem with this position is that many older and generally more efficient phones will not get to load ressources such as the Tracking Pixel because it is last on the list of things to load. Before that it will go and fetch all the css, javascript (including GA.js), images etc. Potentially a phone user just aborts loading the page because it takes too long, too.

The solution to maximize the loading (and therefore the tracking) of the Pixel is to put it _as early as possible_ into your HTML, preferrably somewhere _right after the opening body tag_ such as your header div.

Another reason for your issue, besides the integration of the Tracking Pixel, can be that there has not been any mobile phone traffic to your site.

With the suggested change in your HTML the tracking on phones should function as expected.

Please feel free to contact me if there are further issues that we can help you with.

Re: MySQLdb on Leopard

Awesome, thank you very much for the post, compiling worked like a charm after the edit and linking.

Re: NY

Hey Ben! Good to read that you are really enjoying your stay at NYC. I left yesterday for Vienna, but hope to meet you again. If you are planning on staying a little while in NYC, let me know. I can give you some contacts there for just in case and maybe for a job.

Best from Austria!

Alexis
