Eliminate corruption? The government of Russia only operates because of corruption. The problem with Ukraine is Zelensky was turning it into a respectable, free nation and Putin didn't want that so close to his boarders. Wouldn't want Russian citizen to get any big ideas about how democracy could work in Russia.

Ethanol was never about "renewable energy". It was always about subsidizing corn farmers. That said it is a great fuel for knock resistance and it's nice that be able to get something similar to race fuel in terms of knock resistance right from the pump in the form of E85.

It's all propaganda. The game to me is figuring out who it's aimed at. I would guess this is aimed at PRC citizens to reinforce the illusion there is some sort of constant battle against them. It's easier to motivate your citizens towards a common state goal if they think they need to wage a constant existential battle against perceived external enemies.

Probably not, just look at labor force participation after the year 2000. Ever recession sees a drop, and after the recession participation never gets as high as it was prior to the recession. The last meaningful increase in participation came in the late 80's. It was relatively flat from 1990 to 2000, and then dropped with each recession, never rebounding to pre-2000 levels.

That is just wrong. The first reported case in the US was January 19st in Washington state. Closing NYC in April wouldn't have done shit. The virus was circulating in the country weeks before that first case was reported.

Exactly. I am sure Yuma Regional Medical Center is doing their absolute best during a health emergency affecting the entire country at the same time. Unlike in the spring, doctors and nurses from one area of the country can't go to another area because there are shortages everywhere.

Moratoriums on evictions will expire at the end of the year, but what people really need is money to pay bills. Doesn't matter if it is rent, mortgage, car payments, etc.

I am not a small government conservative, but if you ask people if they want money for free of course they are going to say yes.

Seems we should at least stop taking on water before trying to raise the sail. Unemployment compensation is more important than giving away free money to people who don't really need it. I got some last time and donated half of it to the food bank. I didn't need any of it but was entitled by law apparently.

I get the economic stimulus reasoning, but people can't pay their rent and put food on the table. Let's take care of them first.
