I have the problem that files and folder seem to disappear while trying to access them. I had to repeat the boot dance a second time. This time the rebuild took much longer and I finally went to bed. I hope that this is a good sign. This morning all lights were green again. I first run a disk check with automatically fix file system errors. That went through with no problems detected. Now I run a "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors" which seems to need a lot of time. After more than half an hour only 6000 files are processed. It looks as if this will take a very long time.

Re: Drobo: USB device not recognized - till's blog

I guess I am kind of lucky. Everything seems to be back again. It started with not being able to access folders. After rebooting the PC Windows Vista was not able to recognize the USB device for the Drobo and of course the Drobo itself was not visible neither trough Windows Explorer nor through the Drobo Dashboard. It took Drobo about 5 minutes to rebuild 800 GB of data on it. Thanks again for your post.

Re: Drobo: USB device not recognized - till's blog

Thank you for the article. I currently have the describe problem with a Drobo that I only have for 6 weeks by now. Following your description I could get Drobo to rebuild. Right now I am waiting nervously for the finishing of the process to see where I am at.
