Thanks.

Re: Plex Media Player is now ambidextrous and free for all… Kodi? Plex Media Server and Plex Home Theater has been free all along??

If the Plex Media Player is not the mobile app then what is it and what does it do that the Home Theater app doesn't do?

I must be missing something here or else this is not news.

Re: ASUS RT-AC88U Router Review

Thanks for the excellent review.
I'm considering the AC88U but I wonder about the speed you get if using openVPN?
When I use openVPN on my computer i.e. using the computer as the VPN-client, I get around the 100 Mbps that is the max of my connection, but the CPU on the router is probably not as fast as the one on my computer so I wonder still if I would have to see a big penalty in terms of speed.

The speed tests done by you in the review doesn't really state what kind of connection you are testing on. It'd be great if it would say. Thanks.

Re: A few things about Redis security - <antirez>

A good job would have been if antirez had set the defaults of each redis release to the most secure they can be and let people who want to open it up to the world do that explicitly by making manual changes to the config file. I know this is "free" software so we essentially can't complain but the way this was done is wrong in more ways than one. Teaching people how to hack to shoot your own software in the foot is not good practice in my book.

Re: A few things about Redis security - <antirez>

Well, you're kind of missing the point.
The point is that Redis is currently shipping with a redis.conf file in the root directory that is NOT using the bind 127.0.0.1 which means that many people will still install it and not be aware of the fact that their installation is open to hackers per default.

Re: A few things about Redis security - <antirez>

About the default configuration file.

In the 3.0.5 release, downloading it from here http://download.redis.io/re... the redis.conf in the root directory that many, including me, just copy and change some of the values in, the bind 127.0.0.1 is still commented out.

Checking that file in GitHub it is actually not the same as in the downloaded tar.

Something to look into perhaps.

Re: http://brandonmathis.com/projects/fancy-avatars

Think you're missing the point, almost to the extent that it feels like it's going to be an uphill battle trying to explain why this kind of thing that this excellent guy has done with these gravatars rocks so immensly.

Ugliness, in any shape or form shall be countered and opposed as much as possible. Before, when things were sailing, you could read substantive writing here by ONE guy,a really good one, you Tim.
Now it's like a free-for-all with posts from the oilking to mount fuji or whatever.
I really liked your posts with well thought out, well put ideas on trading. Not just ranting on about how you wish the market would start to drop.

I miss your posts, Tim. Back to basics please. I think everyone would benefit from that. Kudos.

But it is nevertheless confusing, to say the least, to see what you get your ideas of a major downturns just around the corner (next couple of days). The short term sentiment is bullish, no matter how much we'd all like to think otherwise.

You offer no evidence to the contrary. Consider the following (mon 15/12 2008):

1) Asia forcefully pushing higher today. Nikkei +5.8%, HangSeng curr +3.5%
2) The auto bailout will have ppl hoping. The longer it takes for bush to garantee the money, the more resillient the market.
3) Europe is set to open sharply higher today.

So, all in all, isn't it more honest to confess to the short term bull market (probably lasting over x-mas) and stay on the sideline or go for long ES or DIG (if energy / oil is your fortee).

Thanks for a good blog.

Re: http://slopeofhope.com/2008/11/21/extreme_left.htm

Either I'm reading it completely wrong or you are.

In my eyes, from that link you posted, they're ultra-short on gold, through december (which makes up for about 90% of their net position short).

Correct me please, if I'm wrong.

Re: http://slopeofhope.com/2008/11/05/forward_on_the_foe.htm

MICC looks good to go.

Re: http://slopeofhope.com/2008/10/29/get_that_leprechaun.htm

Nice timing on that put moo.
What a friggin ending we had today!
A near 4% drop in 10 minutes where half of it was right under a minute.

Re: http://slopeofhope.com/2008/10/29/get_that_leprechaun.htm

Talk about shakey markets.
Wow.
Fastest drop from 2.something to 0.25 I ever saw. 30 seconds.

Re: http://slopeofhope.com/2008/10/29/preopen_easeback.htm

Tim, you still bullish on Oil?
Is the FOMC decision in any way weighing in on that sentiment, from your point of view that is?

Thanks.

Re: http://slopeofhope.com/2008/10/28/making_flippyflop.htm

Admirable trade.
Been following you today.
Thanks for the insightful tips (although you call it gut feeling :)

Re: http://slopeofhope.com/2008/10/28/shorted_es__the_wall.htm

No hard feelings Tim but I think that if you are shorting, it's time go long.
You seem tp be having a revised midas touch for the last couple of sessions.
S&P seems to be building in my opinion.

Re: http://slopeofhope.com/2008/10/24/distrusting_the_rally.htm

Thanks.

You may very well be right.
I agree that we're still in a bear market for the long haul My point was that there will invetibaly be a sharp rally day sometimes soon and it seems to me it will be mon-tue.

Re: http://slopeofhope.com/2008/10/24/distrusting_the_rally.htm

Three things, standing on the sidelines looking at market participants:

1) This is a great forum. It's not really a blog, it just so happens Tim starts the threads. Nevertheless great content here. Thanks Mr. Knight.
2) For the love of everything holy use ANOTHER threaded commenting system than discuss. It takes minutes to load with just a few comments. There are tons out there. And really, think about using a forum software altogether since this is a forum and not a blog.
3) Finally, standing outside of the action lets me see things so much clearer than when in a position. How can you distrust this rally? It's going to go on until at least x-mas. The positive signals in the US markest today are just too many to miss. It took a -10% sell off in Europe to have the Dow gap down a measly 2% on the opening.

Buying on Monday won't be too late, but certainly less of a chance of hitting those 10x.

Thanks again for a great website and please do view the above "critisisms" as constructive feedback.
