And for anyone without the deep pockets for a paid subscription to CARTT, I obtained a transcript of Simon Lockie's presentation to the Senate and posted it to the Howard Forums:

http://www.howardforums.com...

Cheers!

Re: London Taxi “flashmob” sends Uber sign-ups 850% higher; delivers wall-to-wall media coverage for Uber

> The LAST thing you need is for Uber to become a dictionary word. If anything, the one you want to be supporting is Hailo — the service setup by taxi drivers.

Hi Ewan,

I used to feel the same way about Hailo—here in Toronto they've a proper dispatching license. I always knew that, like you say, Uber less of a commission from drivers' fares; then I found out that (again, in Toronto, at least), UBER gives their drivers a free iPhone 4s with unlimited data—whereas Hailo drivers have to make do with their own devices and connections. So I switched to UBER.

But I definitely agree, either service trumps hailing some random cab on the street!

Re: Wholesale wireless would be a positive step for Canada

Hi Elliot,

I really appreciate this post, but I do think you're mistaken when it comes to Mr. Nowak.

While I don't agree with his views on MVNOs in Canada either, if you read through more of his blog — particularly the stuff about the Verizon debacle this past summer — you'll hopefully see that he's anything but beholden to The Big Three.

Disclosure: I am a Peter Nowak fan - http://goo.gl/qP1Upx

Further Disclosure: I'm also a fan of ting! - http://goo.gl/YdHia5

Re: Rogers and Bell both expand Mobile TV offering, swap eachother’s channels

I'm reminded of what former Mobilicity CEO Dave Dobbin said in 2011, something to the effect of: "The inescapable future for carriers is to be dumb pipes for data."

Wouldn't it be better to get your media from the source, rather than paying your carrier for it, and then paying again for the data?

Re: Giveaway: Win a Nexus 4 Smartphone from Techvibes and Telus

I like how it's not locked to any carrier, like Telus :->

Re: Lenovo ThinkPad E530: The Ideal Ubuntu Laptop?
