Great websites for new car buying. But as someone who is looking to buy a used car (until her credit and paycheck allows for different) I have been looking for more advice on ho to not get hosed on a used car!

I really hope you try this again but consult some vegans or vegetarians who eat well and try to reduce your processed food consumption. You can eat well, with very little time and on the cheap.

I see the whole "its expensive to be vegan thing" which kind of blows my mind. Fruits and vegetables cost WAY less than meat and cheese. You shouldnt rely on the processed meat and cheese replacement products for your subsistence anyway.

As for iron, eat more olives (they have more iron per 100g than ground beef) and spinach. Protein? Nuts and beans. Calcium? Broccoli.

Also, I'm not vegan but a vegetarian who eats vegan probably 90% of the time. Reducing the salt and processed foods in my diet has helped me regain more energy than I thought possible AND as a student who works a regular job (ie time constrained) I find it extremely manageable.

Time saving hints:

Take a day you are less busy and prep your week. If you like to keep snacks with you, pre prep some baggies of almonds or carrots to grab and go. I love trail mix for this as well.

Easy weeknight dinner: Stir fry. Chop veggies, throw them in the pan, make a soy sauce and PB mix, throw in, serve. Done in less than 10 minutes.

Im awful at breakfast too but find that bagels are super easy. Portable and has enough carbs to jump start your day's energy levels. Blueberry bagels also have the perk of antioxidants! Sometimes Ill prep a batch of blueberry muffins for breakfast stuff as well.

What Babyinthecorner said.. OR a easy peasy way to make good tofu that doesnt fall apart. Cut it into slabs, throw it in a ziploc bag, put some marinade in it (whatever you want), freeze. When you defrost it (between papertowels like you would with meat) and cook it, itll have a "meatier" texture and have soaked in the marinade. Wah lah!

Agreed. Reading this I kept thinking "Is there a meal in here somewhere?". There is so much filling vegan food, even in take out form.

When I was a teen, it was the punk way to leave Manic Panic in your hair OVERNIGHT, wrapped in saran wrap or however you can do it. Made for the best color. Not sure if its needed but the school of thought was the longer the better

We decided to get married after talking about it for months. I would have been pissed if he just "popped the question" giving me only the choice of an instant reaction after the dude had prepped and pondered for weeks. Not fair!

But he did give me an "engagement ring" before the wedding, while we were in Big Sur. He said "So what are you doing September 5th?" (our wedding day). It was cute, but thankfully had no pressure.

I wish all politicians and policymakers lived in poverty before they succeeded in pulling themselves out, so they would be able to see both sides of the coin. But sadly, those born into even middle class will never know what it means to live on a budget (I say that lightly because having 20 bucks extra a week in your paycheck is hardly a budget). Or even how food stamps can take the ease of "How am I going to eat this month" off someone's mind.

But if it does take "class tourism" to open the eyes of those who can effect change (as someone already said), then please, walk a mile in our shoes. You dont have to run a marathon or wear those shoes for the rest of your life. Just that mile. So when people say "I cant feed my family on this" you know what that means and the stereotypes of a "welfare queen" are banished from your mind. If all it takes is living on a food budget for a week... I say every single politician and policy maker should take that "challenge".

If you want to lose less than 20 pounds, can you stop calling yourself fat? You have a few, very few, extra pounds.

I adore that you want to take control of your own body, but the self pity that you extrude won't help you. Maybe the thing your mother instilled into you is the fear of other people's judgement rather than the quest for a perfect body. Because no matter how much weight you lose, there will be something else you will think other people judge you on.

I feel like people keep jumping down each other's throats trying to reinterpret the same situation. And when it comes down to it, what other people say or do could be a myriad of things that may or may not have to do with you at all. And your interpretation of their actions and/or language may be due to your own insecurities. Maybe.
There is blatant hate out there. But there's miscommunication and assumption.
I feel this site latches on the "shaming" so hard that everything said is seen as somehow railing against a group or militantly on the defending side.

Don't we all remember that most of the world is so self-involved that 99% of comments made most like is due to their own insecurities and societal pressure? I like that the author is trying to say stop using other people's actions and words as an excuse.

I saw someone say that they dont feel bad about being fat but have been fat shamed. I'm curious to how that would make someone feel. If you feel confident about yourself and someone tries to tear you down, well.. they can go kick rocks cause it won't do a thing.
It seems the whole shaming thing is most lethal when someone has low self esteem about the issue at hand.

So yes, I agree with the author in the way that sometimes people are bitches because theyre bitches born and bred.
