Go Kristen! I love this post! I have had nearly the same conversation with my nearly 5 yr old. She is an achiever as well. Part of that is who she is, and part of it is my fault. When her little sister was born, I would ask her to do things first...get out of tub first, eat dinner first...but now I've created a monster...who must be first! I love that she's motivated, but it's tiresome. And I'm struggling to teach her to embrace the journey and the completion of tasks...and trying to get her less focused on being first. I just pray I have enough compassion and tough love for the both of us. God love our beautiful, driven children....

You are one Brave Momma! Way to go!!! My poor mom did the same thing for me in high school as I "quit" the volleyball team every day during two-a-days. I hated it and loved it all at the same time. She kept telling me I was doing a great job, don't give up and drove me back twice a day. All I can say is...being a mom is hard work.

I hope he does just as good tomorrow!

And I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE your pics of Paula Dean. She is so awesome. I"m just impressed you remembered to try to take pics. I'm glad to know you ventured out of your room to have some pizza and meet other bloggers.

Just take a moment to be grateful to NOT be traveling with your kids. And enjoy your last few hours of alone time. Who knows how long it will be before it happens again. :) Lotsa love from home!!!

For those who bring back more than they leave with...take along a space saver bag...the kind that suck all the air out. Don't use it going...but use it on the way back. You will find a ton of extra space!
