Focused on cross-browser compatibility and valid semantic code with future modifications and expansion in mind. I've some subtle jQuery in the works for the next version which will be more of a portfolio.

Re: Student Travelcard

No, I'm banking with Ulsterbank. But AIB kept insisting that I'll get €12 off my student travelcard if I signed up with them then and there, but they also insisted didn't have to honour or use the account as the voucher was issued on the spot.

The way I see it, I saved €12 for filling out a form with just my name and address (they need further proof of identity and personal details to open an account at a later date).

Re: Starting College

Thanks Emma. I've been a follower of yours on Twitter for a while -- quite handy for NCI news I must admit.

Re: First Day

Cheers Deryck. I'm slowly getting the hang of college life...and Java. There mustn't be very many of us Kinesthetic learners about the place then...as I was the only one to put my hand up for it during the lecture :-P

Re: First Day

Thanks Emma. Week 1 went fine, and I'm sure week 2 will be even more fun (with Freshers week!). I'm sure that I'll keep you all updated on my experiences (good and bad!).

Re: First Day

Thanks Robert. Been having a blast -- it's freshers week next week so it'll be even more fun!

Re: the switch to windows 7

I've been using the Win7 for quite a while (RC editions), and although it does blow Vista out of the water in terms of speed and refinement, I don't think it will knock me from my XP perch -- not until I have a stable enough platform to persuade me to migrate from XP Pro.

It's funny that when I ordered my PC from Dell, they wouldn't allow me to downgrade from Vista Home Premium, to XP despite the fact they were still shipping units with XP. Needless to say, two days of Vista usage led to the XP install discs coming out :-P

Could 7 be the XP killer? I'm not sure, maybe in terms of Home users and perhaps gamers, but I don't think for Business users it will.

Re: D-Day

Thanks Robert, I certainly did and then some! There have different modifications to the bodies, the one to the far right has the original fibreglass mouldings, and the two beside that had the modified sheet-metal front -- which replaced fibreglass following a fire at the fibreglass workshop in the 70's. They had a variety of engines, mostly they had the Leyland 0.680 engine with a semi-automatic gearbox (M class), others included DAF powered units with auto-boxes (MD class), and Detroit Diesel units with auto-boxes (MG class). Most ended their service lives on school work, being bashed around country lanes by part-time school bus drivers (farmers), and were reclassified as the (MS class). Surprisingly there is a plentiful supply of survivors in private hands -- but sadly none on the show circuit as restoration is difficult with the lack of spares for the bodies and the buses being in ribbons prior to withdrawal by CIÉ/Bus Éireann.

Re: Busy Few Weeks

She's a Van Hool alright, with a Cummins L10-185 engine and Voith Auto box. They were the first proper coaches acquired by Bus Éireann.

We have one up in the yard at the moment, CVH1 (SI 2001) which was the first proper coach delivered to Bus Éireann. We also have one of the Bus Éireann Bombardiers, the first of its kind preserved in the country - http://www.youtube.com/watc... - look out for it in 'Sensations'!

We have another 400 or so vintage coaches and buses in our yard down in Cork. Great fun so it is!

Re: The Leaving Cert to Date

HL French.
