Great to see how many people showed up once the sun came out. Love this fest!

Re: Opinion: Sidewalk cyclists deserve zero tolerance

I ride my bike on the sidewalk for 2 blocks along Clark just about every day. I'm too scared to ride in traffic, especially with the giant trucks that frequent such a busy road. So my route to work goes bike route to Clark > cross at the light > sidewalk for 2 blocks > back to the road down a much quieter side street. It's unfortunate, but I feel much safer risking a ticket than risking getting knocked off my bike by a giant semi.

As a frequent pedestrian, I really don't understand why stepping 8 inches to the right is such an imposition. It's really, really easy to move laterally when you're on 2 feet.

I'm less annoyed with cyclists & more irritated by the people walking (or running) in groups of 2 or 3 that refuse to slide over when encountering someone coming the other direction.

Re: Patio Season in Vancouver

Falconetti's has a great upstairs patio on Commercial Drive with gorgeous sunset views. Might be the Drive's best kept secret!

Re: rollertrain

That guy's a douchebag.

"Doing something makes you right." Ummm no. Good fucking god no! I can think of a dozen things off the top of my head just confined to BLOGGING that would be bad bad bad things to do.

I wonder if this is why Seth Godin posted his "sometimes posting nothing is better than posting something sub-par" update. I'll take the guy in the red fez please.

Re: rollertrain

Love it! I need to work on doing more abstract, messy stuff too. It's so easy for me to go over every detail until the whole thing looks cartoony with outlines. It's funny too because I so *love* work like this ^^.

Re: rollertrain

I like it as is. You're probably obsessing more than usual because of the large scale and the personal nature, but really, to the outside eye...it's fine!

That being said - my focus is immediately drawn to the window light and the colors do seem overly warm/orange. That lends to the surreal nature of it though & like Brock said, I think you should run with it. I'd quit worrying about making the roof perspective perfect and push it more into the surreal, trippy, bizarre.

For the record, I'm really loving seeing the whole work in progress.
