But I'm biased :)

I just want to clarify one thing. You say, "to subscribe in that way you have to have your own account".

That isn't actually true for Posterous. Anyone can come to your site, click subscribe, and type in their email address. They will then get your updates in their email box every day.

We don't believe normal people check websites daily or know what RSS is. Delivering updates by email is the best way to get content to people. (We do have RSS and web based readers as well).

If you have any questions, we're here to help. You can email me at sachin@posterous.com

Thanks

Sachin Agarwal
cofounder, posterous.com

Re: "Lawyers Are Expensive. Thank you for including us in your post.

These days, it's absolutely essential for a business to have a strong online identity. That doesn't just mean a blog, but a full website, presence on Twitter and Facebook, and more.

We built Posterous from the ground up to cater to these needs. We think we've built the best *and easiest* way for a business to be on the web.

1. Posterous is fully customizable. We offer a number of great themes, and you can also edit the HTML/CSS directly to make it look exactly like you want

2. Rich media is handled perfectly. What's a website without video these days? Post photos, video, audio, and documents on Posterous with zero effort

3. Post by email. Sure you can spend a ton of time learning new posting tools, but why bother? We all live in email, so post to your website the same way you email a friend

4. Multi users: we handle multi user blogs better than anyone. Just add the email addresses of everyone in your business and they can all post. There's no other setup

5. Static pages: you can add pages to your Posterous site, making it more than just a blog

6. Autopost: you post to Posterous, and we'll update your Twitter, Facebook, and other accounts automatically. It couldn't be simpler. Who has time to update everything manually?

In all, you get the most modern, most powerful publishing system out there. Our goal is the make the tools simple, so they actually get out of the way and let you focus on the content. Because if you're spending all your time configuring the site, learning what ftp is, installing plugins, and reading source code... well, you will be too tired to actually post something!

Re: Are Posterous Pages Potentially Dangerous?

I guess Twitter must be the most dangerous site on the internet, with all those links going elsewhere! oh no!

Come on guys, links are links. They should be enabled by default, and deeply integrated into the platform.

Because Posterous has native comments, we can do smart commenting by email, and that's what allows users to create groups on Posterous, that act as email lists.

Imagine if Google Groups or Facebook required 3rd party commenting...

Re: HTML I Love You, But You’re Bringing Me Down

Dude, this is awesome. The native apps offer a much smoother, slicker experience over a clunky website.

To your point about Time: there are 2 different Time apps in the app store (search for "Time"). April 12, 19, 26 are separate apps that cost $4.99 each.

It's a confusing, odd way to do it. They should just do an in app purchase each week within a single app.

But in any case, it's not a "mock" app. The app's title itself is clearly marked with the date

Re: Ning%26%238217%3Bs+Bubble+Bursts%3A+No+More+Free+Networks%2C+Cuts+40%25+Of%26nbsp%3BStaff

Friends, Posterous has committed to creating a Ning blog importer.

You'll be able to move your Ning blogs into Posterous soon!

http://blog.posterous.com/p...

Re: Posterous Upgrades Post Editor for Simple Multimedia Sharing

Our focus wasn't really "email centric" but "better, easier to use posting tools"

We did email first, then web, and there's even more coming

Re: The iPhone Grows a Beard: iPhone OS 4.0

As much as I hate to admit it, Android has a lot of momentum right now. Being able to repackage them into something that looks new goes a long way. Generally I'm surprised by how much people are willing to spend on used stuff.

I think it boils down to this: there will always be someone willing to pay $400 for an iPad, but not $500. They are the buyer you want.

Re: Should you buy that Apple product? I've consistently sold my old products for 10-20% losses. Apple products hold their value well.

One data point: a 160gb ipod sells for $220 on ebay, and is $250 new. not bad at all. ebay is a sellers market. People pay up to 95% of a products cost when new. I sell there, but i dont buy.

I've always sold my used iPhone for a profit (but that's a special case since the buyer gets it without contract).

Re: Are You a Nobody?
