While I agree against creating "walled gardens" I think the ability to "pull the curtain" - via a private channel or backroom (ie in Twitter, the DM) - is necessary. An integrated and seamless ability to have some sense of security in the audience can increase the level of disclosure which in turn can foster a higher level of collaboration that can benefit the community writ large.

we humans like being altruistic...I would amend this statement to "we humans have a need to be relevant" - relevant to other humans. altruism is a bi-product of this.

i use twitter to serve as a journal of my life and my relationships as well as my social bookmarking tool (esp when i'm on my mobile device).

Seriously, you're asking this question w/o rhetoric? I must have missed the part where you stated you terminated your account with Amex and taken up shop with Visa or MasterCard (remind me of Amex Express Travel Service competitors).

Why don't companies take stronger action to fix the technologies that are impeding customer service? Because their bean-counting software says that the cost of the customer service investment exceeds the costs of customer attrition. Funny how before the release of the iPad, Amazon Kindle customer service was sh$t. After iPad's release, my defunct Kindle was replaced w/in 24hrs of calling Customer Service.

LuLu Lemon rocks. After 3 pairs of yoga pants (that see more airports than yoga studios), 1 sweatshirt, 2 shirts, and 2 tanks I'm a believer. Some of my girlfriends are often tempted to wear the long yoga pants out on a Saturday night -- the fit is that good! I've heard guys comment that the pants "make any ass look amazing." Oh, and I machine wash and dry mine without incident.

Management has also worked hard to build a brand that has a soul and a genuine commitment to promoting personal and ecological health and well-being...one pair of pants at a time.
