Makes a nice change from the usual broadswords and katanas you see in games.

Re: Overgrowth a165 video changelog - Wolfire Games Blog

Suggestion!

Would it be possible to have different animations for throwing different weapons? For example, Turner could throw a hammer by spinning on the spot (y'know, like an athlete doing a hammer-throw). He could throw large swords and axes by holding them above his head in both hands and bringing his whole body forward and down.

It would also make for good balance if only small weapons could be thrown at any time. So throwing a spear (will we be able to throw spears... yes, yes we will) requires a stable footing, but a knife can be slung in mid jump or while hanging off a ledge.

I'm aware that what I just said would involve a ton of work, but well... you have to admit it would be pretty damn cool.

Re: Overgrowth a160 video changelog - Wolfire Games Blog

"In this..."
*fullscreen*
"In this vi..."
*720p*
"In this video we shall..."

Every damn time.

Re: Overgrowth a152 video changelog - Wolfire Games Blog

Of course, the most important thing is that this means we'll be able to arrange unconscious enemies in dubious poses.

Re: Overgrowth a144 video changelog - Wolfire Games Blog

Now, as the saying goes, you're cooking with gas!

Re: Art Asset Overview #18 - Wolfire Games Blog

Okay, HUGE thumbs up for the "basket armour".

It's distinctive and visually interesting. Having a body fly 20 metres from a kick does not make the kick look strong. The idea of being able to freely explore and come up with my own solutions without the level designer holding my hand is an appealing one.

However, in practice, I prefer the the linear approach. Mostly because I am yet to see a game with non-linear level design which didn't just end as a series of long travel sections between the few interesting bits. That is to say, the linear bits.

Re: Game length and value - Wolfire Games Blog

Whenever the subject of game length comes up, I think of Portal.

Just three hours long.
