We were unable to even bring up the device when connected to a computer - couldn't see it connected as a drive, couldn't get a new ROM into it, so couldn't even flash it (no removable SD). Ended up just doing a replacement with insurance plan. I appreciate the follow-up.

Re: How to Install Android SDK / ADB on Windows

If the phone is bricked - stuck in boot loop, only goes to recovery mode - and I cannot do step 13 above, am I dead in the water?

Re: Female Authors Depend on their Husbands to Write Romance

Hey, that man is not just "supporting" you and letting you live like a princess, he's "managing your life" as well. That doesn't hold true at all. First picture - 79 and 80 are the same, then it goes up a little for 81, then 80 is still at that same height. Third picture, 66 and 72 at the same height, and 75 is higher than 81. 4th picture - 79 above 80, then two 82's at different heights. I use the 43Folders Hipster PDA (http://vurl.me/JGHW). That is, instead of a notepad and stickies, I just use index cards. One item per card, and your tasks can be sorted, shuffled, organized, grouped, spread out and viewed in total or inspected individually. No rewriting when a task carries over, just set the card aside till tomorrow. And, while crossing a task off the list is great, nothing beats tearing up the note card when it's done.

Re: Visual Cues for Better Coworking

Hi Alex. Ruby/Rails at one time makes it very easy to write good code and very easy to write bad code. What you actually get is going to depend on the nature of the developer - "lazy" or "smart".

Re: http://b.holyjeeb.us/post/8129081502

OH: "So, when they say 'this is not rugby or any form of it' what they really mean is 'this is a form of rugby'."

Re: Education reform: eight school chiefs to watch in 2011 - Chiefs for Change, coalition of five state school leaders - CSMonitor.com

Eric Smith stepped down as Commissioner of Education in Florida a month or two ago. After reading about the security issues in the initial release (http://www.kalzumeus.com/20..., I think it's more an "everyone's first WEB app" issue. After that course, I always read everything I sign and I have never hesitated to strike the provisions I don't like from boilerplate lease agreements, sales agreements, etc. A battle usually ensues, and I usually win - a sale is a sale, and being willing to walk away does wonders for the other party's capacity to accept your changes.

I have always wondered about the parking lot thing. One specific thing that I remember (the class was 15 years ago and I have only spent 8 months of that time as a practicing accountant) is that you can't contract away your liability for true negligence. I know it's not the easiest thing to prove, but doesn't that come into play? For instance, say the attendant just walked away for half an hour and left everything unattended and someone stole your car. He's an agent of the parking lot company, and that's true negligence. Right? Or not. :)
