And I don't think that should be allowed to slide.

Re: Top 10 Reasons Why We're Over It

I'm sorry, where did I mention WWII in there? I know I posted an article by Sen. Hagel which mentioned it. And I'm sure there was a point in there somewhere.

And I am quite well studied up on WWII, thank you very much.

Are you honestly saying Dems want to help terrorists? That that is their actual end goal? If you're gotten to that point, you are blinded by grotesque partisanship. Agreeing not to torture should be the least Dems and 'Pubs can agree on. The fact that we're even having this debate shows that we're at a bad place right now.

Re: Top 10 Reasons Why We're Over It

I agree with the majority of this, however, regardless of crimes committed, proven or alleged (and this is still a nation of laws, so let the justice system work), authorizing what the US has historically called torture is beyond wrong. Former Republican Senator Chuck Hagel wrote an amazing article about this : http://www.washingtonmonthl...

And as more evidence as to our historical position on things suchs as water-boarding come out and our recent past of authorizing such things, we should really look into who we are as Americans and ask ourselves "Do we want to be a nation that tortures?" And our answer should mimic with the passion of Fox News' Sheppard Smith when this topic came up: "We are America. I don't give a rat's ass if it helps. We are America. We do not f---ing torture."

As Republicans, we should not let emotions get the better of us. That's what Democrats are for, to let their heart rule their mind. We need to be the party that in one resounding voice says "We are Americans. We have always been better than torture. We will continue to be better than torture. Because America stands for something, and that something is not brutality or barbarism. It is justice, rule of law, and due process, no matter how hideous the crimes. We have values we will shed our lives, our fortunes, our sacred honor for." And that should mean something.
