That means, from me, you'll get the good, the bad and the ugly. I tend to be pretty cheeky, but I only hurt the ones I love...LOL. Like a bitter pill, it's meant to make things better. Or maybe I really am an old curmudgeon before my time. I guess you'll have to decide.

And, as for any concerns about meeting a band or tossing my soiled boxers on stage to be noticed, I have no such aspirations. However, I do like to be entertained. And, that sometimes means I'd like to see a production larger than the Blawnox Community Mime Theatre--that has some form of national relevance.

Re: Is Pittsburgh Destined to Become a Ghost Town?

Lots of questions remain today following the announcement of a proposed merger of the City of Pittsburgh's government with Allegheny County's government. http://kdka.com/politics/Pi...

That's how a city drives policy countywide.

Re: Is Pittsburgh Destined to Become a Ghost Town?

Congrats on getting married! Hopefully when you were in Boston you had a chance to check out Durgan Park--best "bone in" prime rib I've ever had. And it's a unique dining experience--right off a "T" stop, but I thought theirs was the "L." It's been a while though. Anyway, congrats!

Re: Is Pittsburgh Destined to Become a Ghost Town?

Scott,
I'm with ya on the respect (or lack of) on the cars! But, there's definitely something with public transportation here.

I love taking the metro in DC. If I lived there, I'd never own a car. If that was an option here, I'd embrace it. But, my experience with public transportation here is that it is very limited once you get beyond the city limits.

As for concerts, 90 percent of what I saw at Star Lake (PGP) was reunion tours and country, which is not my genre. So, part of that may be my taste in music. But, look at the top grossing concerts for summer '08 and the number that hit Pittsburgh.

And, there are still some real hot spots here in the suburbs where development has taken place and there are a lot of good places to shop, live and eat. We LOVE our food here in the 'burgh.

So, I'm not saying there's tumbleweeds blowing up and down the streets of the suburbs yet. It was more a reflection on the downtown area which is meant to be the hub of our local activity and the glue holding this community together.
