This long wish list from the Winnsboro "leaders" is absolutely shameful, and whoever is behind it ought to be ashamed of themselves. Nobody in this town has a clue how to stimulate business here, bring business here, or improve the economy here. This town has been sliding downhill for years, and it's about to hit bottom. If these city "leaders" are so smart, how come things here are so bad?

Uh...there already is a Farmer's Market. It's behind the Train Depot. But, of course, nobody thought of the hot sun, so there is no shade. Who is going to display their fruits and vegetables in the hot sun all day--they will burn up. And no buyer is going to stand in the hot sun either. Then our brilliant marketing child promised a sign, but it turned out to be a list of rules that was posted on the fence. Nobody goes there because it sucks. Other towns who understand the value of a Farmer's Market have provided an awning for shade. And what is an Arts Park? Nobody around here would know what that is. One Million, huh. pathetic.

We need one big sign that provides directions out of town for all the jerks who call themselves city leaders and who work day and night to destroy this town. They are only interested in promoting themselves and their pet projects. They wrote this dumb Stimulus List. Just look at it. Where do you see anything that's really for the CITIZENS? JOBS? JOBS? All of their items on this list are to increase the bureaucracy in this little town, and/or to improve THEIR offices!! The town is not growing. We do not need more bureaucrats. This is all so sad. Is anyone paying attention here? You just rammed through a huge tax increase, calling it a "rollback" on purpose to get voters to think they were "rolling back" the taxes, just like the word "rollback" is used at Wal-Mart. The ballots were written deceptively, and nobody, not even that newspaper nut, came out to explain that "rollback" was NOT reducing the taxes. It was just the opposite! Plus, the newspaper nut made it seem that if we voted for it, that meant the state would match the funds...forgot to underline that, hey, your property taxes are going up. And oh yes, the increase was back-dated to Jan 1, 2008--the icing on the cake! So now, you want $10 million more!!!! What is going on here?? Are you going to lay floors of solid gold in the school?

All the money we spent on remodeling that old Train Depot...that was supposed to be the Vistor Information Center. But really, it was just new offices for the Chamber people. But then, when visitors started stopping by and they wanted to use the bathroom, oh no, we cannot allow visitors to use OUR bathroom. So we'll buy that old gas station across the street and turn it into a public bathroom. Winnsboro became the laughing stock of East Texas. Buy an old historic building and make it into a public toilet! Unbelievable!!! With no thought given to who would keep it clean, who would re-stock it with toilet paper, etc. I was waiting for the sign to go up saying, "Pee Here." There is no need to build ANOTHER Visitor Center. My God.

There is one member of the City Council who has been pushing relentlessly for a skateboard park, and he has been saying it would cost $50,000. How come it's now $200,000? Oh yes, the thought of big government money and you just can't help yourself, can you. A skateboard park? How stupid. Just some place for kids to hang out, get in trouble, and hurt themselves. Skateboarding is one of the most ignorant activites invented, attracting only isolationist loners. And the one job it will create...oh yes...we will need someone to mop up the blood and direct the ambulance in to pick up the injured kids. This just gets better and better.
